Pretty apparent that they are trying to get Brady a dynamite option

They offered Collins for Nuke and now a first for Cooks....

BB is hilarious. First the "then they changed the rules on that... aaanyway", with perfect comedic timing. Then the self-deprecation when referring to 4th and 1.

Pats bring back Develin on a 2 year deal. I like him, really gritty. Bring the power running game back for two more years!

Are you guys ready for the 2 day "legal tampering" period, AKA the we're probably gonna say bye to Ryan, Harmon, Blount and Sheard days?

Awards:
“Despite a report by ESPN that the Patriots won’t trade Jimmy Garoppolo, I’m told that nothing has changed and that teams — including the Browns — will still try to land him.

“One source told me he believes it might take as much as a No. 1 this year and No. 1 next year — which I’m sure the Browns won’t be willing to do.

“But if New England will accept their No. 12 overall pick and maybe another later selection, I think the Browns would strongly consider that.

“They’d come away with their franchise player on defense and their franchise quarterback, and that would be a grand slam first round. They’d sell tickets, get their weary fanbase excited again and likely starting winning right away.”

I hope we sign Jimmy to a Drew Bledsoe contract.

If you're not confident enough in his future, you should trade him. But I believe Schefter that he's not getting traded.

So Marshall to Giants. Hope the offseason picks up speed now and that the Pats pull off some smart moves (already tendered Butler, of course). Even if we don't think they do, it'll probably turn out to all be for the better anyway.

Someone brought up moving Jimmy for Cooks. I'd love to be able to keep Jimmy and see what he can do, but who knows how long Tom plays at a high level.

If a team like the Browns offers you the 12 and the 33, you drive him to the airport.

Not if you think he's a franchise QB and Brissett isn't. That position is too important.

Pats traded for TE Dwayne Allen per rapoport and all of NFL twitter

Can't link cuz I'm on my phone but huge pickup, he's a great Bennett replacement. Potentially even an upgrade

Appreciate it

He really is a perfect fit. He was on the way out in Indy with Doyle getting the big deal. This may be one of those lafell situations where we take a guy who has had some prior success and he then translates it into a career year in his first year in NE.

And TTH he's a good blocker and a solid red zone option. Probably more of a blocker than a receiver really

Plus I liked his comments during deflategate

Cap hit is 4.9 this year, 5 the year after

A fraction of what Marty is gonna get for a younger solid option

Edit: cap hit is actually almost 6 I think, this according to Howe. Idk the reports are conflicting but I'm going with Howe. Still probably a lot less than Bennett.

Double edit: Nvm Howe was wrong the original numbers I posted were accurate

Another freaking steal.

Why do people still trade with the Pats? It's just comical at this point.

Didn't Allen have 3 TD's against the Jets this year on MNF when the Jets basically quit? I remember watching the game and thinking, Wow, why are they not covering this guy?

I guess the Pats staff was impressed? I know I'm biased as a NE fan, but it just seems like they are playing chess and the rest of the league is playing checkers. Bennett comes in, rehabs his image and is in line for a big payday, so they go out and get a younger/better version.

Crazy.

According to what I have read, he's as good/better on the blocking side and they don't need him to be a great offensive weapon if Gronk is playing.

I think Brady is going to play another 3-4 years, and while I like Jimmy G's skillset, the guy didn't last two games because he doesn't know how to take a hit or when to protect himself. Given Brady's track record, he's the better bet to stay healthy, even at 40.

To me, keeping JG on the off chance that Brady gets hurt, when you could get a 1st (and maybe two), is a loser mentality.
