Thanks for the reply and insight.

I love Cooks. But I love Butler and Butler's been getting it done here, not in New Orleans. I'd be torn.

I'd rather trade Malcom Brown.

Yeah for some reason I wasn't thinking that he could just sign the tender, be under contract and available for trade.

I like Cooks and he'd be a big upgrade on Amendola, but I just feel like he's unnecessarily redundant with Hogan and Edelman here. And upgrading Amendola isn't a big enough issue for me to even consider losing someone as important as Butler.

I think Brown's a good player but I think we also all probably agree with your opinion. Does NO though? I think they are bringing back fairley so I doubt it

It may be unpopular but I would consider doing Cooks and their 2nd for Butler and our 1st. About a 10 slot difference in those picks. If you consider Gilmore and Butler close to a wash then it probably ends up being an efficient way to potentially improve the team

I honestly think they are comfortable moving forward with Rowe/Gilmore/Jones/Jones/Coleman. I would be too. It's not as good as it possibly could be with butler obviously but I think Cyrus is gonna be a solid slot corner and the other jones isn't terrible in coverage himself from the small sample I've seen

This is apparently the year to be an over 30 year old FA. They are getting PAID.

I don't think they'd include Butler in that. If most people aren't willing to do Butler for Cooks straight up, it really doesn't make sense to also add in a 10-slot drop.

There were a few reports going around the other day that the "Cooks for 1st" price was actually miscommunicated and that NO was really looking to swap 1st's and use Cooks to move up. I think in reality, that "32 for Cooks" offer we heard about the other day was really 32 for Cooks + NO 2nd, which would explain why NO probably turned it down. But I don't think the difference in that is Butler, even without a contract.

Now if we're talking Cooks + 11 for Butler + 32 + something...that could be interesting given the middle-round D talent this year.

Stunner: Texans trade Brock Osweiler AND 2018 2nd-rd pick to CLEV for Browns to take Osweiler contract off Houston books, sources tell ESPN.

Per Schefter, Houston sent Osweiler and a second in 2018 to Cleveland just to get out from under that deal.

I'm hearing reports that they may just instantly cut him. They'd only be on the hook for a portion of his salary but would essentially get a free 2nd round pick next year.

I think this is what's happening. They picked up a 2nd round pick to eat his salary this year for HOU. They had something like $100m in Cap space and weren't going to be able to spend it all anyway.

They now have the 1st, 12th, 33rd, 52nd 57th, 65th picks in the first three rounds. Given all that ammo and the fact that JG makes nothing this year, it's probably even MORE likely that CLE deals for Jimmy.

Not to mention all the $$$ they spent on the O-line today. That's not to protect Brock or RG3

Has any QB fallen faster than he and Kapernick have in just one year?

Doesn't seem to be a big deal. They pick up some money for this year and get a second in return, and they can cut Brock next year and be done with it.

All this spending has me thinking a Jimmy trade could happen again. But I hate to go against Schefter.

People are acting like this is a blockbuster. It's the equivalent of the Bolland or Bickell cap dumps.

NHL does cap dumps all the time, but the NFL? This is the first I've ever heard of one, much less one involving a guy one year into a crazy franchise QB contract.
