Exactly. The Browns basically bought themselves a second round pick. Now if they use that pick and the 12th, and the third rounder they're supposedly trying to acquire to get Jimmy G, it would make even more sense.

The Jimmy G "no trade" stance has to be a major smokescreen to drive up his value right? I'm bring it up because if after the Osweiler trade, rumors are that the Browns still plan on making a run at Jimmy. In fact people seem to think that picking up the Texans 2nd round pick has only given the Browns more ammo to do so. If the 12th overall pick and say a 2nd are really on the table, how could the Pats turn it down???

Unless... Bradys days are numbered and we should really only expect one more year with tom. The Pats won't invest starting QB money in two guys, assuming Jimmy would even accept the back up role. And there's no way the Pats turn down the 12th overall pick just to have a stable backup QB for one more year.

My heads spinning

There are 2 stud QB's in the draft and arguably a third in 2018

They can go with Brock and guarantee 3-13

Isn't this the same thinking the Browns have had for the past four decades?

This is the exact plan. They will maybe even deal him and go with someone worse.

Which is my point. Whether you are right or not it is all subjective.

The Browns have been sucking at sucking for a really long time.

Manziel anyone?

Surprising that there isn't more news on Hightower.

Why the hell does it matter what the Browns did 20 or even 5 years ago? Just because they're still in Cleveland and called the Browns? This group just got here and has made a lot of smart moves.

Yeah, it was true for the Raiders. Until they hired the right people. Same with the Cubs. Same with the Warriors.

There's nothing to base your opinion that they're making the wrong moves off of other than the fact that the predecessors of the guys making decisions used to suck. That's not relevant.

Love what they've done so far. Still want Garropolo though... And a secondary.

Im gonna be sick until Hightower re-signs and or Pats come to agreement with Butler/trade 1 for 1 with Cooks.

In a perfect world they keep Hightower AND Butler, good luck scoring on the Pats next year if that happens.

Good moves so far, bit too much money for Gilmore though jesus christ thats crazy, im worried at the fact that they only spoke to him that money and did the deal literally on the spot. Which means something has changed, and that something in my mind isn't Ryan going elsewhere. That to me says Butler aint lacing them up next year til they pay him, which aint gonna happen, so they've got an insurance policy in Gilmore and have basically said, enjoy the couch, we don't need you anymore, which i really hope isnt actually like that.

Whole thing seems sad really, and avoidable.

Shorter timeframe than some of those teams, but the Blue Jackets are getting it together as well. Wild as well, but think they're less comparable.

Yup. At least Titans are pretty likeable. That division could (arguably only) improve and Colts might be the worst of the bunch soon.

My gut is telling me Brady plays 2 more years for this team.

He may want to play beyond that...and if that's the case, as much as I HATE doing it, I trade him.

Sign Jimmy to a 2 year bridge deal, letting him know he's the guy going forward. Yes, he gives up a year of playing, but he gets to slot into the most successful franchise this century. Fair tradeoff for me.

Belichick likes to build sections

He did his WR over when he signed Walker, Moss, and Stallworth

He drafted Gronk & Hernandez same draft

Vereen & Ridley same draft

He's done it at D positions as well focusing on a weakness or concern

He's going to overhaul that WR group and why Cooks is the guy

It pains me but by this time next year I'd be surprised if Amendola Edelman AND Gronk are here

Gronk has a good year he's going to want to get paid and he will be 28 with big time injury baggage

If Jimmy's gone I hope it's 12 +

It makes a lot of sense to me.

Speculation that his Instagram was hacked?

3:30 in the morning where I am and I'm up with a baby doing draft research when this news hits my eyeballs. I'm not sleeping for a while yet now.

Like someone else mentioned here the Patriots are playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers and BB has always got other deals lined up while making one. He knew Bennett would be too expensive to sign so he gets a better version signed for 3 more years in Allen without giving up much at all. Hightower will get signed and maybe Sheard as well. Butler and pick 32 go for Cooks and pick 11, then don't be surprised to see Amendola go for another CB to replace Butler. Jimmy G goes to the Browns for a boatload of picks including the #12 pick. We sign Gilmore to replace Ryan, this team will be even better next year. I think they may even sign a vet QB to backup. All this while having 2 good first round picks.

Even if that tweet is hacked. Still hurts Jimmys value.
