He can score, even this year, he has a very good goals/60 number and he has shown the ability to catch fire in the past. I'm happy with the move and think he's definitely an upgrade on this year's Craig Smith.

His HERO chart over the last 3 yrs, if you're into that kind of thing:

His 13 goals on the year would be 5th on our team right now. I'll take that for a 6th rounder.

As others have mentioned will be interesting to see how the lines are affected and how gets scratched.

I haven't seen this on the NHL.com trade tracker yet. Decent pick up to hopefully add a few more points

Thanks for the link! I like that layout better than the one on NHL.com. Coming up for the game sat with a bunch of hawks fans. Hoping for a strong showing

I'm with this guy. A 6th for PAP was pretty damn good value for his production; Devils fans are pretty pissed at Shero from their forum / trade forum. 6th round picks are worth next to nothing; I will admit that Poile has occasionally caught lightning in a bottle really late in the draft (Rinne, Hornqvist), but doesn't change the expected value of a 6th.

Maybe Paranteau guidance was suggested for the young bucks?

Is he a free agent after season end?

Also kind of made me laugh, maybe New Jersey was feeling bad for fleecing us on fiddler trade so they gave us good deal on PAP Lol

considering people say we overpaid for Fiddler, on balance I'd say it evens out... but also PAP is injured right now so that had to diminish the return

I see that Arvy hustle and work ethic in him, he just seems to have a case of the October/November Forsbergs right now. IMO he is ahead of Smith in his play.

It's not the end of the world if Fiala sits. Like V82 said, I'd rotate them. And there will be an injury you just know it.

Apparently he's only supposed to miss a couple games so giving up a 6th rounder is still more than fair I think.

He's going to miss 10% of the rest of the season. So he would have been worth a 5th healthy?

So, what's the depth chart if healthy.

Forsberg - Johansen - Arvidsson

Wilson - Jarnkrok - Neal

Fiala - Fisher - Parenteau

Watson - Fiddler - Smith

Salomaki - Sissons - McLeod

I guess?

i'm thinking smith is probably a better option than parenteau even as poorly as he's been going. and personally I want fiala to continue to get time....but we will see. nothing wrong with more depth.

I think you're underrating PAP. He's a good possession player that can actually contribute offense, both at even strength and on the PP. He can put the puck in the net, great goals/60 numbers. Upgrade on this seasons Smith in my mind, without a doubt.

It's a good add for the price. A tweener (but older) player with a scoring touch. I like was Poile did here. Wish it was Iginla for a fourth instead for some playoff grit and net front presence, but we already spent that of Fiddler. Fiddle sticks! Also not sure Iggy would agree to come here.

Overall, you can't really demand better when the team is somewhere between elite some nights and tank worthy other nights. If we don't have our most recent hot streak, I think that changes Poile's mentality.

I'd like to see

FF9 Joey Arvi
Willy Jarny Neal
Fiala Fisher PA
Watson Fiddler Smith

I prefer PA over Iggy. Iginla's been great for years but he hasn't been NHL worthy this year. Slow as a turtle, and that won't go far in the Poffs.

It's weird he's even thrown around as a potential player for any team..
The guy hasn't done pretty much anything this season. 18 points in 61 games is not worthy of anything in my mind. Gets points only if someone else builds the play around him so perfectly that he can't miss the pass or the goal it seems. Then again, I haven't seen him play at all this season. Also, it would be an ok move because he's a veteran. But that's all he offers. I think we have enough veterans in our current stars in the team already.
Parenteau.. has more points, and he was cheaper. There's nothing more to it. Iggy was a childhood favourite of mine, but age catches up on every human being.

OT: Nice, the pictures are back

I have no problem going with a steady rotation of Smith, Fiala, and PAP. If one wants more time over the others, give Lavi a reason. None of them are currently opening eyes.

Before being sent down, I think I criticized Fiala's passing play. It's improved a lot. He make good plays out there and backchecks with Arvy like energy and enthusiasm. If JOFA line weren't doing as well as they have, I'd suggest putting Fiala next to Johansen.

Perhaps Fiala can be an effective playmaker for PAP, with Fisher providing some toughness and possession through FOW's.
