Exactly.

Letting go of Stafford was a salary dump. If we could get a 4th round pick out of the trade, it would be great, considering we had no need for an overpaid 32 year old winger, as the Jets have incredible offensive depth.

He just opened scoring against Ottawa. I guess Bruins are happy with him

The plug holding down up and coming 4th liner just scored again in the playoffs

It's not that Drew Stafford was a "plug" for the Jets. It's the fact that he was overpaid, and at 31, was not worth resigning when we have an abundance of cheaper offensive depth.

I don't care if Stafford wins the Conn Smythe Trophy. This is one time the Jets made the right decision.

I don't think a contender would have picked him up for a full season because of his contract value

The more concerning number now is Ottawa 2/3.

So as of today do the Jets get a sixth?
And if the Bruins win one round a fifth? And a fourth if they win 2 rounds?

Jets get a 5th now that Boston made playoffs. They get a 4th if Boston wins Round 1.

There is still the question mark surrounding the interpretation of Stafford playing 50% of the games. If he has to play 50% of the playoff games (not just 50% of the total number of regular season and playoff games), the Bruins could conceivably advance through subsequent rounds and if Stafford is unable to play in 50% of all remaining playoff games (by design or happenstance) then we don't get that 4th rounder.

That doesn't sound right at all

So they're gambling Boston makes it all the way to the cup without Stafford? Odd agreement/deal

Stafford playoffs 4/4 (now guaranteed at least 50% of round 1)
Stafford overall 22/23

Doubt Boston makes it past Ottawa now that it's 3-1. Who do we pick in the 5th?

Looks like a 5th rounder for the Jets.

No way Boston comes back from a 3-1 deficit, and wins two in Ottawa.

Hope Bruins pull off a big comeback. I actually like Ottawa more to be honest but seeing Drew Stafford as a rental turn into a 4th would be kind of satisfying. That's almost a 3rd!

lol exactly!

But seriously if that 5th did become a 4th it would mean Boston would have advanced to the point that it likely ends up being around 20-30 in the 4th round which is barely a 4th in the muddy late rounds where it doesn't matter much except for maybe optics.

Seriously this trade is reported different everywhere. This article on Yahoo, which is cited on the Wikipedia page for the 2018 draft, says we will only get a 4th OR a 6th - no mention of a 5th (though we've seen it reported elsewhere as a 5th).

The optics of Kane/Bogo trade don't look great now, esp depending on what happens with Myers.

Kane/Bogo/Kasdorf for Roslovic, Armia, Lemieux, Myers and a 5th. If Roslovic doesn't turn out to be a top-6 player, we lost this trade. Perhaps the only silver lining is getting rid of Bogo's cap hit.

I am telling you, this is karma for all the Jets fans taunting the Sabres fans on main boards for a couple of years that "we won the trade"

What???

You realize Kane is a UFA after next season, right? Buffalo could end up with Bogo and Kasdorf for Roslovic, Armia, Lemieux and Myers.

Would you trade Roslovic now for one year of Kane, straight up? I wouldn't.

We won the trade.
