The only thing this trade does is lets a few young guys get some more ice...and save Chip a few expensive pay checks....the 6th is a throw away

In my opinion, the best part of the trade is that it allows a young player into the lineup and opens up more cap space even though that isn't an issue.

It did say conditional. I'm guessing if the Bruins win the cup with Stafford scoring the winning goal, it moves up to a 5th.

Wonder the return would have been had the Jets retained salary. Maybe a 4th? A shame that when every other team is willing to retain salary the Jets apparently refuse to do so. Wasting money on Strait and Pavelec in the minors, yet refuse to retain salary to get a better asset.

He's always been a bit of a sleepwalker who can hot-streak himself to 20.

Part of that is going to be dependent on QOT and he hadn't been getting many top 9 minutes this year. Plus injury. Plus, I'm guessing, bounces.

If the Bruins can get a hot streak or two out of him they'll have made out very well.

Boston has enough room to absorb his full salary and they are not exactly a poor team. Why would a deal with them need to retain salary? What would be in it for the bruins to give up more? Wouldn't they rather pay the salary and give up a lower pick?

So you wonder what would happen. Then you assume what would happen. Then you get mad because it didn't happen.

I'm just glad we're getting something for him. I think he can actually be good for Boston this season, who knows what happens in the playoffs, but we're clearly not going to be re-signing him next year and it's good to not just use an asset that has some value in the league.

Has there been any confirmation that it's full salary and no retention?

Thats reckless reasoning. We have no basis to believe that Boston would have offered a better pick had we retained salary.
I am not intimately familiar with their cap situation but if they have room I don't see why they would give up a better pick.

He had no spot in the lineup. You need skilled players to play with him to get the most out of him, but Laine coming in made him lose his spot in the top 6. As we haven't had the healthiest of seasons, it has been tough for him to produce and perform.

Combination of things. Mostly bad fit. Also injuries. You might have got the rental steal of the day. Or garbage. Wouldn't surprise me too much if he went on a bit of a streak though.

I would love it if Stafford went on a streak. It would make us look bad for not getting much, but I really like Stafford and want him to succeed.

That's pretty speculative. You have no idea if that was a factor or not.

Chevy doesn't care what he got for Stafford. He isn't in the Jet's future plans. The only reason to get a higher pick is so Stafford doesn't feel bad. He has the rest of the season to earn a contract for next year.
I mean if they could do bags of pucks they'd do it.
