Is this your proposal or a rumour you heard?

did you steal that proposal from TSN?

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=153861&hubname=nhl

For example, if the ubiquitous Canucks rumour were to ever unfold, you'd think the Panthers would want a package including Todd Bertuzzi and, since the Panthers can't reasonably make Jamie McLennan a number one goalie, Alex Auld. Perhaps the Canucks would get another forward in return (Anthony Stewart?) to make a deal work out.

Yes, I bet Auld would be thrilled to come back to Florida where he requested to traded out of couple years ago. Reportable the reason was because Luongo was there and he'd have no chance being a starter but there could be other reasons.

How hard is it really to put the word "proposal" in your subject title?

i don't see why the Canucks would trade Todd Bertuzzi for a guy named Lulango.

He didn't request a trade?? He just didnt sign before the prospect deadline so we didnt want to lose him for nothing. BTW, with luongo gone he'd be the starter obviously so I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem with that.

Again with the "Panthers-Canucks" trade???

Didn't Luongo just publicly state a week or so ago that he wants to STAY in Florida, but doesn't want to re-negotiate his contract during the season?

Auld absolutely requested a trade for the supposed reasons that he would never get a chance to start in FL (I believe, at the time, they had both Luongo and Kidd). Auld was traded for a 2nd round pick in '01 and a 3rd round pick in '02 (both picks were traded later)

How about Luongo for the Sedins?

This would then let FLA trade Jokinen to address the goaltending issue, and FLA would be in half-way decent shape. At least it gives them a core to build around with the other young talent within the organization if they are unable to resign OJ & RL.

Why would the Panthers want Bert at this point? They are a young rebuilding team, and they would really struggle without Luongo in net. The LAST person I would want in that enviroment in Bertuzzi.

Everybody wins except Florida.

Bertuzzi is on pace for less than 30 goals, as he was the season before the infamous incident. And, at his pay level, he needs to score more like 40 to be worth it.

Auld is an underrated young goaltender, but I'd rather have Stewart.

Luongo >>>> Bertuzzi
Stewart > Auld (but this part is close)

Players that I think would be of interest to Florida would include the Sedins, Kessler, and Allen (not saying all of them, but I think that at least some of these players would have to be involved).

Yes, he didnt sign with us because Luongo came along. Pretty much the same thing as requesting a trade

Auld, Allen, Kesler for Luongo and a D-man not named Jay?

Edit: I can't believe I just posted a Luongo-to-Vancouver trade rumor. I'm propagating the very thing I'm tired of reading.

I see an old joke...and a young joke. Make up your mind.

Great proposal by the way. Quite fair for both teams. Does Lulango play center?

HAHA! You're a funny guy. Lets get a few things straight. LUONGO is a world class goalie, most would say top 2. If you can't spell his name, let alone flat out butcher it like you did, do you really even know who he is?

IMO, the Sedins have to be involved for the Panthers to be interested. I highly doubt they'd be interested in Bertuzzi at this point. It appears that Jokinen is going to leave, and if Luongo is dealt, they aren't likely going to have much interest in a 31 year old Bertuzzi. The Sedins on the other hand would provide the Panthers with a scoring line that is just starting to blossom and at 25 years old, the Sedins have a lot of good years left ahead of them. That said, no way do the Canucks trade the Sedins, they are an absolutely HUGE part of the Canucks' current success and future.

If the Panthers are interested in picks/prospects, then the Canucks could have an intersting package for them. IMO, it would take Luc Bourdon for the Panthers to have interest at all. Something like Alex Auld, Ryan Kesler and Luc Bourdon for Roberto Luongo and and a prospect such as Petr Taticek or Kamil Kreps. Lot's of future for the Canucks to part with, but that's what the price of a legit top 5 goaltender will cost. Keep in mind, this is a deal that would only happen in the off-season if Auld can't get the job done in the post-season.
