Here Comes Brian Elliott

Elliott is going on one of his vintage hot streaks. Since February 1st , Elliott has won 11 out of 14 games stopping .937% of his shots his direction. Back to back shut outs. Can he keep it up in Calgary? He use to peak this time around in St. Louis.

Nah I think it was Gaudreau and Brodie who took the jinx.

I would not get your hopes up Flame fans, he will let you down when you need him the most.

I am happy he is playing well though, hope this means the Flames resign him so we get a extra pick.

This is untrue, when Elliott is on he is fantastic. Blues wouldn't have made it past the first round without him last year

He has ups and downs. He's on a high right now but it will come to an end.

What about Pietrangelo, Parayko, Bouwmeester finally playing well?

Look at the post all-star break numbers. Wowza.

But most disturbingly, Elliott went an awful 0-13 in his losses this season.

But we needed him the most the past 6 weeks so we could get in the playoff race and he has gone 17-4 in his past 21. I think he showed up. His stretch of not showing up was at the beginning of the year when we were all stoked we finally had goaltending for the year and then Brian was like, "nah bro, you have to wait until January".

Also, watching the Blues playoffs last year, Elliott was really good.

The Flames also have the Chad if Elliott struggles and he is a great backup. It's a win-win.

I said early in the season when he was awful, that I could see him doing what Cam Talbot did last year. Talbot started off the season poorly in Edmonton last year, and even lost his starting job to Anders Nilsson for a while. Then he progressed to the mean and finished off with a solid season.

My confidence in Elliott doing that started to go down the later into the season that we got, but it looks like it's happening now.

Elliott has actually been playing well since and including the loss to the Sabres in mid-November. Even though he let in 4 goals that game, three were due to atrocious coverage on the PK (like, unfathomably bad coverage... it was an off night for the PKers to say the least) and one more was just terrible defensive coverage by the Monahan/Brouwer line from what I recall. You know it's bad when you let in four goals and you were the best player on your team for that game.

Not including but since that game (Nov 21), Elliott has now posted the fifth best SV% (.924) and 3rd best GAA (2.06) among guys with 25+ GP since then. Only Holtby and Bobrovsky have been better over the last ~4 months. He is 17-4-3 over that span.

For real though, that's great for him and the Flames. I have nothing but respect for them. Flame on !

Montreal threw him one of the easiest shutouts I've ever seen. Our team was drunk that night. I'm sure he's been much better as of late though.

I don't think easy shutouts in the NHL exist, even when a team is off, they still usually score at least once.

If you exclude the winning streak we're currently on, since that Nov 21 game, Elliott's save percentage is 91.14. Which is slightly below average. Elliott is definitely not the goalie he is during that terrible start to the season, but he's also not the goalie he is currently playing like either.
