we have seen enough of his track record to know hes a mentally weak goalie. once his teams trail in a series, he collapses like a house of cards.

He was good in the series but truth be told we won game 7 vs the Hawks because of Brouwer and a double post. Hawks goals in that game were straight garbage.

I dont blame him at all for losing to SJ, I blame our top players not showing up but he certainly did not help himself in that series either.

And ofcourse, I will never forget the Kings Game 6 GWG where he lets in a buzzer beater from the blue line. Like I said, mentally weak.

I dunno, Gallagher definitely thought he had a goal and got robbed by a big save.

Brian "System Goalie" Elliott has tied Mike Vernon for the Flames franchise record for consecutive wins with 11 straight.

Not bad for a guy who is only good because of Ken Hitchcock.

I praise the Blues system playing in Calgary right now, leading all of Elliott's success.

The guy's a beauty though.

Pretty damn impressed with this guy. Just a real solid starter who can win you games and might lose you a couple when he's off too. Finally some stability in the position. No idea why so many here dump on him, there is way worse goalies starting for NHL teams right now.

You can make these excuses for pretty much any goalie. At the end of the year, the numbers are what they are, and blaming on the team in front of him only seems to support that he was helped by the Blues' defense. I'm really not seeing where the "told you so"s or system goalie jokes are at all justified based on what he's done in Calgary so far. No one reasonable was suggesting he was a bad goalie. He is what he is. A solid goalie the majority of the time, who's capable of some incredible streaks. One who also might be a little weak mentally and has yet to show he can handle a full starter's load.

With 11 wins in a row (.942 save %, 1.70 GAA, 2 shutouts) he's tied a Flames franchise record.

Over the last 56 games, Calgary is 4th in the entire league in points, trailing only Pittsburgh, Columbus and Washington (by 2, 2, and 5 points respectively)

Terrible team right.

While I agree, your opinions RE Brouwer aren't indicative of our fan base either so you're one to judge

San Jose had the easiest trip to the Finals since the Hurricanes won the cup. They faced a weak and tired LA Kings who's entire team was just bad. Although Nashville gave them a threat offensively and Rinne had some great games, overall Rinne was shaky, and Nashville was terrible defensively and extremely tired. St. Louis was better than both defensively by a long shot, but their offense was nearly non-existent, and goaltending was very subpar as well. No wonder why the Penguins toyed with them and they had to rely on Jones just to not get swept.

Or maybe, his awful start wasn't indicative of his play considering the good years he had prior? As if his previous track record doesn't count to his overall play.

Didn't you know, he's nothing more than a product of Hitchcock? The only numbers in his career that matter are those in his first few seasons that were poor.

It looks more like his earlier poor play was the anomaly and he's much closer to what he's looked like for the last month or two. Call it progression to the mean.

This is much more indicative of his level of play than what he was doing early on. I always felt he'd have lower save percentage numbers when playing 50-60 games. Not below league average or anything, but something like .915-.920 and not like some of those .930 years he had as a 1b in St Louis.

Took the "ZOMG ALL STAR ELLIOTT" 6 months to warm up?

Nah, he's still rubbish.

Good< I always like Moose. He out played Allen, Halak, and Miller, rewarded by Hitch with a more comfurtable folding chair during the playoffs. Then last year he got to play and helped the Blues make our best playoff run in the past 15 years.

no one is saying it doesn't count. whatever that means. what they are saying is that the way he has been playing the last few months is more probative when evaluating what type of goalie he is currently and heading into the playoffs. the answer to that question, is top 3 in the league.

+26 actually in that span.

Flames defense deserves a lot of the blame at the start.

Brodie, Grossman, Wideman, and Jokkipakka were just handing over scoring chances on silver platters.

When we started playing defense, Elliot started playing like a stud.

well when the playoffs start and it becomes a physical nightmare and the crease is crowded even more it'll be interesting how he responds. he's so streaky
