play in a worse league then. If you wanna play in what is apparently the best non pro league in canada you should expect some talent

I've played hockey with alot of ahl and whl players and they are fine they won't kill you if you don't kill them. But I've also played in a real seniors league as a teenage I would never think of checking or even rubbing out the 80 year olds
agreed.... but that will never happen. It's been going on forever.

there has always been atleast 1 meathead on every city league mens beer team ive always played in. They don't care if they get kicked out of the league

Yes, they're older, stronger guys who played junior. Many played university or went pro.

If this was a real beer league, he'd be wearing someone else's jersey and number.

That's the one thing I don't get.

I've always sucked at sports, but one thing that was really fun, was lining up against someone with (obvious) amazing talent. Doing what you can to play 'up' to their level and see just what they do to beat you, and where you might be able to stop them for a second or two legally and honestly....it's the most amazing feeling in the world.

The thought of taking someone out just because they are far more talented than you....that's the opposite of what you should be doing as a player. There's no honor or integrity in it at all. It's not how you improve as a player or measure up as a person, to cheat/goon your way past that talented hurdle.

True they are annoying tho. I even hate the ones on my own team. Get some empathy and realize you're not making the nhl

Jersey design seems close enough that he should rock this bad boy with 10 and Horcoff on the back when he's able to rejoin the lineup:

Smyth is tied for top PPG, but by no means is he lighting it up. Lacombe actually has 5 of the 6 top point scorers in the league.

This should be stickied to the top of the thread. Stands don't fill for beer league games

The guy who threw the hit has been in more hockey fights than their entire team combined... He's also a pretty big guy. Very, very few guys playing rec league are going to have a chance to do anything but wind up in the hospital if they the drop the gloves with him. Which is probably why he made the hit. He knew nobody was going to make him answer for it. A coward.

Yeah for sure. I guess I am a little surprised these things don't happen a little more.

That's the thing. As soon as he did that he turned around and was set and ready to go at anyone who came at him. He knew exactly was he was doing.

****ing POS.

Ridiculous to see people trying to blame anyone/anything but the moron who threw the hit. Smyth absolutely deserves to play the game he loves for as long as he wants.

Vicious predatory hit.

Just wondering where all the people that say "keep your head up" are at because they always tend to place blame on the victim in situations like these. Pathetic!!!

Yeah unless everyone hates him now for doing it assuming he lives in Alberta. He will probably have guys wanting to take him now and Alberta's not exactly always the most civil place.

I wouldn't wanna be the one that is known for a cheap shot elbow in a seniors game against Smyth in Alberta.

One of the few situations where a 2-handed slash to the face/throat would've been completely justified
