a tad off topic, but crazy that after the wholesale changes, a Flames win tonight, and a Bolts win tomorrow puts the Bolts in the thick of the Atlantic 3 seed...

Pens loss updated in the original post. Jackets with a game in hand on both Pens and Caps.

Jackets and Caps in action tomorrow.
Pens and Rangers in action Friday.
Jackets, Caps and Rangers in action Saturday.
Jackets and Pens in action on Sunday.

3 in 4 nights for the Jackets could be fruitful.

Wonder if they will go with Bob Saturday on the Island and then Korpi in Jersey the next night.

I sort of hope it's the other way around - Bob has struggled in Brooklyn and has dominated the Devils this season. Plus Korpi's already shut out the Isles once this season

Sportsclubstats predicting CBJ with 2nd best chance to win President's Cup with 13 games remaining. Tonight's games haven't been updated on main page, but using the "Big Games" numbers should ballpark around:

WAS: 49%
CBJ: 27.9%
PIT: 11.7%
MIN: 5.7%
CHI: 5.6%

Although, Tampa is coming on strong for the WC2 and due to get Stamkos back, so that'd be as tough of 1st round matchup a team could draw as a President's cup champion.

I think that 5-0 loss at home to Torono tonite is a really bad sign for Tampa.

And speaking about Toronto, pretty decent chance the winner of the Metro will end up against the Leafs, and that would be the PERFECT 1st round opponent.

Yeah...but I thought Toronto losing 7-2 to Florida two days ago was bad sign for Toronto.

Toronto or NYI would both be preferred over TB w/Stamkos. Hopefully, no Florida. I'd like to see their franchise have some success, but the games against them have been tough to watch.

If the Leafs make it as a wildcard, wouldn't that mean it would be Metro 1 vs Metro 4?

Best division winner gets the 2nd wild card team, so the Metro winner will almost certainly get WC-2.

That's good to hear. I was worried for a second. Confusing format.

It was discussed....so you weren't too far off. There was a point that the GMs thought if there was 1 WC team from each division, there'd be no crossover regardless of team records. The thought was to "keep it in the division" for all games, but it appears it never was approved.

wouldn't look much into that...Tampa got home at 5am the night before from Ottawa...they were due a loss eventually...Stamkos is practicing today but talking heads say don't read into it...they need him back soon though

No I don't. I still think they're in "what's my job for today" mode. Now, in a private moment, does Torts consider that his team might be good enough to do what you suggest? Yeah, that's possible.

I'm sure someone with Photoshop skills can insert Torts' face on the right, and maybe Mr. Lambert on the left?

Any 1 of 8 teams the Jackets could play in the 1st round. I rank them in the order I would want to face:

Toronto
Ottawa
Tampa
Rangers
Boston
Montreal
Caps
Pens

Yeap....but only if their goalies play as well as the goalies on the teams ahead of them have already done in the past.

I'd put Islanders between Toronto and Ottawa. And drop Boston to bottom

Ha, I'd switch a lot of this.

In order of preference:

Pens
Habs
Leafs
Rangers
Sens
Bolts
Bruins
Caps

This doesn't mean the Pens would be the easiest, far from it. But the Jackets match up decently with them and I prefer the approach of going at your main rival.

Meanwhile Trotz would just find a way to shut down the party. The Caps are a more versatile team.

I honestly think the harder opponent we face, the better. If the Jackets are put in a situation as a "favorite", I feel they will falter.
