Imagine if Lemieux had broken a vertebrae in his spine like Steve Moore?

It's weird that we celebrate this, but give Bertuzzi **** for doing the same.

Interesting fact, when you google March 26, 1997 you actually get more results for the Wings-Avs brawl than you do for the Heaven's Gate suicides.

There are several, several differences. But sure, if it makes you feel better.

Still remember being a wee lad and seeing the highlights of that after it happened.

If it made you feel better mentioning the differences, then explain the differences.

That GIF of Roy skating out of the net and getting met head on by Brendan Shanahan has to be one of the best in hockey history.

As a 26 year old Red Wings fan this was such an awesome, huge part of my childhood.

Watched that game 3 times that night. Was like it was scripted as he said. From the brawl to the come back to shanny the new guy putting his mark on the rivalry to Mac scoring in overtime. It was amazing. It had everything. I wish I could go back to then as an unjaded 17 year old wings fanatic and watch it all again for the first time.

Those were the most "must see" games of my lifetime. I doubt there will ever be a rivalry that fierce ever again.

Where exactly is Lemieux being celebrated?

I miss those days. The game has lost the passion of the past generations.

Just watched the vid, so insane. How many games would McCarty get for that today, 40?

Interesting seeing them interviewed together - they both said the turtle wasn't as it appeared. McCarty hit him with a glove on punch initially that had stunned him. He was protecting himself until he rediscovered where he was.

As a Wings fan I felt some sense of satisfaction seeing him beaten, but the two guys involved agree it happened differently then it appears.

I'm on my phone and can't link the interview, but they were guests on off the record. Not sure where in the video it is, but I vividly recall that part of the interview.

Every time these two teams would play there was a buzz in the city. I miss those days we would be calling friends during games, on land lines, people were recording the games, on VHS, lol

Good times for the two teams.

Oh man. Haven't read yet, but so excited too. Some of my fondest hockey memories watching this as a teen with my friends!

This exists?? Like, they were in the same room together? That's amazing. I'll have to search for this after reading.
