If Samsonov agree to an extension with the Wings Hudler and 2nd might be possible. Depends on Samsonovs market. If there are lots of teams out there wanting him I could see it even taking Hudler and a 1st to land him.

Samsonov is excellent player and there is lot teams looking for excellent winger. I'd say Boston can get better than that.

Yeah, I agree...IF Samsonov agrees to an extension immediately.

I am simply saying I dont see the Wings giving up Hudler and a 1st or 2nd rounder for a rental player.

I think maybe the Pens should get a little more out of that trade other than just a 6th round pick. I mean,Jackman is a pretty decent d-man but Detroit doesn't really have a concern for defensemen now that Kronwall is back. But if Endicott and Jackman were sent to the Wings, then I'd say Detroit could send Hudler and Brett Lebda back in return...Lebda is also a d-man and has played pretty well for them this season.

If Craig Patrick could swing that trade, I'd worship him.

Hudler and a 2nd for Samsonov would be a great trade for the Wings, even if he does just come as a rental. Datsyuk would no longer be the lone Russian and Lang would get a chance to play with someone that can score.

Shanahan - Datsyuk - Draper
Franzen - Zetterberg - Samuelsson
Samsonov - Lang - Williams/Yzerman

I don't think either of those guys would generate much interest from the Wings.

Samsonov on your third line is a stacked team... But Franzen?!

Can't say I'd like that line come playoff time. Need more grit than that.

Babcock like to put a third or 4th line guy on the top two lines a lot too keep the other team guessing. Besides it helps add some grit to the scoring lines too.

Then throw a solid banger in Holmstrom in there. Franzen is a stretch and a half.

5 on 5, Holmstrom is possibly the worst forward in the NHL.

Mule can and has played physical for the team. He's also played pretty well a few times with Maltby and Drapes on a line,so I don't see it being a stretch that the Mule adds a bit of grit to their game,IMO.

What would C/LW Jiri Hudler fetch in trade?

What hard working, scoring, grinding type wingers would be available if any for a Lang + Hudler package?

Glen Murray, Sergei Samsonov and a 2nd round pick.

Plus Boston would lose that deal bad. An unproven rookie and an old vet who the Bruins cut back in the late 90s, for a rookie of the year, a guy averaging 35 goals a year and a pick?!? MOC might be stupid, but even he's not that dumb. Even if he's been drinking with Sinden all morning.

Given that Samsonov is a UFA, what do you think he would be worth?

I know. I doubt they would even want to trade for them, let alone give up Hudler for them.

I wont go as far as that and say that he is the worst in the NHL. But Homer is the Wings least effective even strength player. Everything he earns and all the accolades he gets is from his work on the PP. Thats why most nights, if you check the stats, he doenst get much more than 5-7 minutes of even strength ice time.

I love Homer though. He is having a great year.
