For you...

Sorry, sorry, I know Bane references are getting really old at this point.

Anyways, at the very least this ''tarp'' news would indicate that if the Coyotes are staying next year they've got a plan to gouge their current fans for more money. Something logical.

And in the worst case scenerio, where this causes a catastrophic reduction in season tickets sold.... well it's one more excuse to move out of Glendale.

Also, I wonder if AEG has been notified about the 'tarping'...

If they do...I hope that it is done with branding in mind...

I am predicting by the end of this thread that this team will be on the verge of moving to Seattle. Previous thread lasted 8 days with a flurry of activity. I am predicting things will be quiet until the March 24th bill deadline...and immediately after that the league will begin negotiating with Seattle. News will leak by the time this thread reaches 900 posts.

Seattle is not a possibility for the 2017-18 season, so it doesn't make sense.

Checking the Seattle thread....Oak View Group wants to tear down Key and build a brand new arena with private financing there. Leiweke (I know, his trustworthyness is questionable) says they have talked to many NHL ownership groups, and they would share $$ with NHL team. I have no idea how that works as far as paying off the building, though. But, if that's a go, then there is no place to play there, so moving to Seattle for 17-18 is impossible.

Ahhh...based on the activity in the Seattle thread...here is a theory...

- June 2017 - new group is awarded renovation of Key Arena, renovations start on an accelerated schedule

- 2017/18 is the last season in Glendale; after season ends, announcement is made that team is 'sold' for relocate to Seattle

- Key Arena renovations completed in time for the 2018/19 season

Anyway...it is just a theory...

Edited based on tweet: Well..maybe that theory is now shot...

Bettman saying that is like me saying I am fully dedicated to finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. There is no solution to be found in Phoenix, because there is no one willing to give enough money to the Coyotes to make a difference.

So, right now, those words mean nothing except that Bettman is not speaking the word "Relocation" while 1149 is still alive.

From listening him talk, Leiweke sounds like a snake oil salesman. He is trying to sell his vision to the Seattle public. I smell something funky from him...Just my take

You expected otherwise from anyone involved with the NHL?

Arizona, sad to say, is not the only place where exploiters flourish in the name of hockey.

He was the CEO of AEG from 96/13, then joined MLSE in Toronto as CEO in 2013, short tenue leaving a little over a year later & formed Oak View Group with music industry exec Irving Azoff..... While at AEG, it was he along with Craig Leipold, then owner of the Predators that lent William Boots Del Biaggio Jr money to help facilitate a sale of the club & then move them to the Sprint Center in Kansas City which was/is an AEG built & managed facility. At that time, Leiweke was also Chairman of the NHL Expansion & Relocation Committee. This of course in direct violation of NHL policy pursuant to the lending of money & club relocations. Both he & Leipold got stiffed by Del Biaggio, going public & suing him to try & retrieve their "investments"... Despite much fanfare when he was hired by MLSE in Toronto, he apparently didnt have the greatest of times, a lot of infighting between Rogers & Bell, didnt really endear himself with the Fans suggesting the photos of former Leaf greats like Charlie Conacher, Syl Apps, Turk Broda, Ted Kennedy, Johnny Bower & Dave Keon etc adorning the walls in hallways & so on at the ACC be removed as in "what have you done for me lately"... his Orange County Wife publicly complaining about the weather, the lack of decent drycleaners & shoe stores in the city & so on & so forth..... But all that aside, he'd be a good guy to have on Seattles side, gets thing done, usually cleanly but the odd time, plays a bit dirty. Obviously knows the NHL very well, how they operate.

This is starting to sound a lot like Atlanta.... Minus the Balken. I'm predicting when 1149 fails or never materializes that Bettman followed ownership will issue a scathing press release with threats of relocation. It will be shortly afterward I think Quebec City or Seattle is announced as the new home of the Coyotes.

It was the 20th anniversary of that 3 days ago. I hear they were extraterrestrial prospective buyers kicking the tires of the Coyotes for relocation to Arrakis.

I would bet an old Canadian $2 paper bill that the Coyotes will move to Quebec City and then the Hurricanes will move to Seattle in a couple of years when they finally sort their situation.

The 32nd team will be via expansion in Dulce, New Mexico, where they are building a secret alien base.
