Jackets sign college UFA Sam Vigneault

Vigneault is a great add, he has a ton of upside and is very mobile despite his height. Loved him at Clarkson, Torts and Jarmo (who went to Clarkson and his godson currently plays for Clarkson, Juho Jokiharju) came to Clarkson to watch us play when CBJ went up to Ottawa. Vigneault is skinny and still needs to add bulk, he doesn't have a good shot but he keeps plays alive and uses his active stick very well. Great on the cycle but will need to learn how to finish plays off at the next level.

Thanks for the report.

I live in the area also and while I haven't seen Clarkson play, everything I've heard about Vigneault suggests that he's a real heart-and-soul guy for the team. Always glad to see a NNY guy get a shot in the NHL, especially when it's with the Jackets.

Chris Clark, the Jackets' development coach, and scout Greg Drechsel are also former Clarkson guys, as a player and assistant coach respectively.
