I was hoping there'd be a picture but hopefully it's cool looking. I think it's a good idea.

A bit jealous - they tried for years to get one for the Coyotes and only got around to actually doing it last year. Great timing.

Good way to build market loyalty, particularly if it doesn't cost extra like other specialty plates.

Great idea, all 3 of our vehicles have Jets plates. We were charged a one time fee of $70 a set, with I believe $30 going to the True North Foundation. Hope they sell well for the Knights.

Everything's saying they'll cost the same as normal plates. That's a little surprising to me since it seems like a quick way to make money for a foundation. Perhaps Foley is planning on using actual team money for that kind of stuff.

If they're free and cool looking, I imagine a lot of people will have them.

The splurge of specialty plates in Manitoba started by the Jets is kinda hilarious.

Bruins plate costs extra but money goes to youth hockey

The license plate featuring the Bruins Spoked-B logo has raised almost $1 million for Mass Hockey initiatives. The plates cost $40, with $28 going to Massachusetts Hockey, Inc., and $12 one-time only for manufacturing expenses. Thereafter, the entire $40 renewal fee will go to Mass Hockey. This is in addition to the standard $36 registration renewal fee.

I had no idea these were a thing in general. What a fantastic idea.

Here in NC all the in-state colleges have a plate, several colleges from outside the state have a plate, several NASCAR drivers have plates, and a couple sports in general have plates (tennis, soccer). The pro team plates we have:

Carolina Hurricanes

Carolina Panthers

Durham Bulls

The Bulls are the only pro baseball team in the state to have a plate. Nothing for the other MiLB teams in the state.

On the plus side, if someone with one of those does a hit and run, it makes it a lot easier to remember their number

My car has a Canes plate. It's easier and looks better than a bumper sticker.

Not to mention it's basically free advertising for the team. Every time I cut someone off, the Canes get a pair of eyeballs on their logo.

I almost find it odd that the Hornets/Bobcats have never had a speciality plate despite being the oldest pro franchise in the state, 7 years older than the Panthers. Although I'm also not really sure when speciality plates started becoming a thing, so that might have something to do with it, given the original Hornets popularity decline in the late 90's that led them to eventually leave for New Orleans.

Anyways thats great for Las Vegas.

Interesting to see that, I don't think I've ever actually seen one of those in person. Seen a fair number of Canes plates though.

Won't deny a bit of jealousy...not that there'd be a Penguins plate in California, but there isn't in Pennsylvania either (plates have to be for charities in PA, so the closest you can get in PA is a Mario Lemieux Foundation plate, which has the MLF logo on it). No team-specific plates in California, either.

That particular plate is relatively new. It's probably because it doesn't have the 'First in Flight' backdrop that it looks different. At least thats what I thought when I first started seeing them.

I think we've had them since 2008 after getting 1000 deposits. The latest is below:

Have one on my car.

Good for LV if they get one also.

Quote:
55-4-291. Nashville Predators.

(a) An owner or lessee of a motor vehicle who is a resident of this state, upon complying with state motor vehicle laws relating to registration and licensing of motor vehicles and paying the regular fee applicable to the motor vehicle and the fee provided for in § 55-4-203, shall be issued a Nashville Predators new specialty earmarked license plate for a motor vehicle authorized by § 55-4-210(c).

(b) The new specialty earmarked license plates shall be designed in consultation with an executive of the Nashville Predators.

(c) In accordance with § 55-4-215, the funds produced from the sale of these new specialty earmarked license plates shall be allocated to the Nashville Predators Foundation to be used in furtherance of the organization's activities in this state.

In New Jersey, we didn't get sports team vanity plates until like 2010. It was actually a bunch of Devils fans who lobbied the state to make them.

I love how NJ doesn't have Rangers or Islanders plates (though they do have Flyers plates).

Recently did a big road trip. I kept track of all the different plates I saw, on account of I'm the world's biggest loser. Some states are insane. Arizona has like 60.

https://servicearizona.com/webapp/ve...startChoice.do

Edit: saddest I saw is the state of Mississippi will let you get a University of Alabama plate. Have some ****in self-respect.

Edit edit: My god, Mississippi has like 200 plates.

Texas is the same way. Pretty sure they've got hundreds from which to choose.

I know the Texas plate for the University of Missouri is really cool looking.

Florida has Lightning and Panthers. Entire family has one on each of their cars.

I think I read there was so little demand the state of Florida would stop making the Panthers one soon.

Pretty easy decision to get one if it's the same cost as a normal one.
