Edit: saddest I saw is the state of Mississippi will let you get a University of Alabama plate. Have some ****in self-respect.

Edit edit: My god, Mississippi has like 200 plates.
About that many here in NC, too. 195, to be exact

Good for LV if they get one also.
I was early in line for these. The specialty part of the plate costs $35 and goes to the Nashville Predators Foundation. The Preds tried to get a tag much earlier in their history than it finally came about--late 90's early 2000's but the rumor was that there was disagreement between the State and the team--NP wanted all proceeds (of the $35, not the regular plate cost) to go to the Foundation, State wanted only a portion of it to go to charity, rest to either them or another charity. (Now this is gossip but it was from a state rep--ha!) I don't know who budged on their position.

Oh, and passivevoice, there are U of Alabama tags here, too. Kills my soul.

My opinion, the plate is really bland. Would like a more bold color scheme, maybe red plate, w/white lettering.. maybe 'Virginia' written in Caps' font, etc. Something that distinguishes it more from standard VA plates.
Hope Nevada does a more dynamic design for Knights.

Never heard of those things, wish we could do it in Quebec. Though at the rate things go here, it would take decades for the government to regulate it and would cost multiple millions in consulting.

FWIW, when I was in BC, we only had about four that I saw regularly:

standard one

alternative one

the old 2010 Olympics one (They don't sell it anymore)

the Veterans plate.

Pennsylvania goes nuts over custom plates. http://www.dmv.pa.gov/VEHICLE-SERVIC...nizations.aspx

That's a list of 356 special organization plates (all matching the standard plate, with a logo at the left and a name at the bottom) ranging from the 32nd Degree Masonic Learning Center for Children to Zem Zem Temple, and everything in between. We also have 39 military registration plates, 3 historic vehicle plates, and 5 special fund plates, which I think have unique designs.

That's 403 options over and above the standard plate.

Trying to think of the first team that did this, because I know Florida did it before Winnipeg did once the Jets came back.

Missouri has Blues and Cardinals ones. I imagine they have Chiefs and Royals as well, though I'm not sure.

Couple of interesting things on the bill
Quote:
Senate Bill 283 would require the Department of Motor Vehicles to design a plate that shows support for the National Hockey League’s newest franchise, which will kick off its inaugural season this fall.

State Senate Assistant Majority Leader Kelvin Atkinson, D-North Las Vegas, presented the bill Thursday to the Senate Committee on Transportation. He said the team has indicated it would pay for production of the license plates.

The bill would exempt Vegas Golden Knights plates from requirements other Nevada specialty plates must follow, such as imposing a special annual fee that typically goes to nonprofit groups supporting causes displayed on the plates.

The new plates also would not have to ensure a minimum number of plates or wait in line behind other proposals that are pending approval.
Sponsor said he'd also support bill for new NFL team license plate.
