Seems vaguely reminiscent of last season.

Maurice said nobody would play unless they are 100%

Too bad he didn't say nobody would coach unless they're 100%.

Maurice should have said "nobody plays unless they are 110%". I won't use the "t" word, but it seems evident that the Jets have priorities other than game results during this final stretch.

I'm going to the Moose game tonight so I'm genuinely happy Strait won't be playing

I would say based on how they have avoided fixing some areas of concern you might expand the final stretch part

Doesn't matter Pmo and Huddy have never been good getting "t" results anyways no matter how hard they try. Cue the first 8 game winning streak of the season . Fortunately it doesn't matter that much this season IMO.

For this season, I'm not sure that they "avoided" fixing areas, but the only way to fix the D (with a top-4 D) would have been to trade picks and prospects (unless you trade Little or Wheeler), and then you lose a top-end D in the expansion draft anyway.

Fixing goaltending would have been either to shell out assets to get a one-year solution (like Bishop), or bringing in a multi-year solution (like Andersen) that you would likely lose in the expansion draft. Halak might have been an option, but what do you do with him next season if you don't see him as a long-term solution? Do you wait until his contract is done to fix it two years from now? They wanted to see what Hellebuyck could do this year, and I would bet that they expected and hoped that he would be more consistent. The results make things complicated.

Based on how this season has unfolded I am glad we didn't waist assets trying to make adjustments "YET".

Mangling Sonnet 55 FWIW. I did this before realizing that our D is ~ 40% full strength.
Ah well, Tally ho.

+++++++++++++++++++++

Not Koivu, nor the gilded caricature
Of wild bears, shall outlive this powerful rhyme;
But Jets shall shine more bright in the MTS
Than unswept stone, besmear'd with sluttish time.
When icebound war shall hattrick records overturn,
Wrister uncoiled upset Dubnykís wizardry,
Nor Suterís breakouts nor Granlundís quick fire shall burn
The living record of your legacy.
'Gainst insane TOI and oblivious coaching
Shall Buff pace forth; puck raised shall still find room
Bar down for all posterity
That Ehlersí speed would flense wildís D to ending doom.
So, till the judgement that yourself arise,
In advanced stats, and dwell in hfboards' eyes.

I kinda get the doom and gloom, but really?? What is the team supposed to do?

There are very few if any teams in the league that can put much better on the back end (I am not defending the brutality of some of the players) after losing 3 pretty darn good D in Myers, Enstrom, and arguably our # 1 in Trouba. Postma starting to come along and then his bad luck returns of course. Lucky we still have 2 pretty decent D still standing in Buff and MoJo. Sheesh...when you look at those 5 key D, it's amazing that we often list D as one of this team's glaring weaknesses. Huddy has to go I think!

Injuries happen and all I can say is thank God we aren't trying to hang on to one of the 2 wildcard spots, cause that would be a tough road with this D core over the last few games.

Buckle up and try to enjoy the remainder of our games for what their worth.

Go Jets Go!

They have maybe been given free crap upon showing up. Finns love free crap. Like buckets and stuff.
