The Kings though were barely making the playoffs.

Yes

And it's going to be for dynasty bragging rights.

The ultimate SCF for the ages.

2 teams that play the game the right way. No cheap shot gooning BS. No clogging up the neutral zone BS. Just pure speed and skill of the highest order. Superstars and future HOFers left and right.

Get your popcorn ready.

Not really, if the Pens beat the Hawks in the SCF that's the sixth cup between the two clubs since 2009. We'd need a game 7.

Yeah but it would be two straight for the Pens. Pretty sure they'd be top dogs after that.

Really hope this matchup happens though, would be excellent hockey.

ratings nightmare match up

reminds me of college football fans that used to say Boise State and TCU belong in big bowl games

they played each other and it was the lowest rated BCS game ever

Would love to see Crosby Malkin and Kane Toews go at it for ultimate bragging rights. Don't think Hawks or Pens are playing close to their peak levels though so we'll see if it happens.

Nope it isn't. Pens would need more and hawks would need 1 more

That post made no sense to begin with. The only "random" team out of that bunch were the New Jersey Devils. But even they had Ilya Kovalchuk, Zach Parise and Martin Brodeur.

I feel like the series would be super entertaining as far as the play on the ice.. But most people are sick of those teams by now

my ideal scenario is for the Pens to beat someone else in the finals this year to get the modern teams tied at 3 a piece. Then they meet Chicago next year to decide the best of the era.

Can we get two teams who haven't been to the finals yet or haven't been in a while.

Watching the same teams over and over is lame.

how was vancouver random? they ran away with the presidents trophy and had a guy nominated for every major award aside from the norris...

I prefer to watch good hockey in the Finals. If those are the two best teams then that's what I'd like to see.

While the NHL might need to wear dark suits for that one, I sincerely hope it's not the Cup Final.

I don't want it. I've got a co-worker that's a Hawks fan and I'd never hear the end of it...

Maybe those teams should show up instead of crying about it.

Would be a great story for the NHL. Would likely do very well ratings wise too. If not this year it could happen in the next few years.

I hope not. I would prefer to have two brand new contenders for the title, be it Washington, Columbus, Ottawa, Sharks, Wild, or Predators. Sharks vs Capitals would be my choice.

Although it would be great to tie the Hawks with 3 Cups in this era and shut their loudmouth fan base up.

It would actually be kinda funny if it was a SCF rematch of last year and the Pens won again lol. I'd feel bad for Jumbo but there's something so diabolical about it that I kind of want it to happen

Or if SJ won this time around that would be ok too I guess.

Cannot imagine it happening just because of Pittsburgh's health issues. They have played pretty well in spite of it, but man are they ever hurting.
