Fun teams but I would prefer new teams in the finals, or teams that haven't won recently

Same. It would be cool to see, but I would prefer something like Edmonton and Toronto. Though that is likely not happening this season, so maybe Columbus and Minnesota?

People are grossly misunderstimating the Pens.

They are still 1 point out a Presidents Trophy while having no less than 5 regulars injured at once in the past month and a half.

All of those guys should be back by the start of the second round at latest. Most should be back when the playoffs start, maybe they put them in for the last game to get their gears turning again.

If they are healthy, it is crazy to not call them the heavy favorite.

Personally, I like Minnesota coming out of the west.

But either way, I can only see SJ/CHI/MIN vs PIT/WSH cup finals.

And as for people who are saying they are sick of the seeing the Penguins...

2016.....won cup

2015.....bounced in 5 games

2014.....lost in 2nd round

2013.....swept in Conference finals

2012.....lost in 1st round in the single best playoff series in recent memory

2011.....lost in 1st round

2010.....lost in 2nd round

2009.....won cup

2008.....lost in cup final

2007.....bounced in 5 games

years of missing the playoffs

They've been past the 2nd round 4 times in the past decade, and only twice in the past 7 years. That really isn't that many times.

The Sharks vs Capitals final would be fantastic, but I don't understand why people would rather have new teams over Chicago or Pittsburgh in the Cup final. Would people rather have less entertaining hockey, but new teams in the cup finals? I'd rather not, although I'm of course biased on it. I think San Jose-Washington would be the most entertaining final, that's why I want it to happen.

There's a good chance but as a Caps fan and a hockey fan, it's the worst case scenario. I want to see new teams even if it's not mine, San Jose last year was nice.

Can't think of anything duller than the Pens and Hawks in the finals. Same teams year after year is boring.

Hawks have no depth and too many crippling contracts to compete.

I'm getting a sinking feeling it's going to be Sharks/Pens again. With the exact same result.

And I too would love to see new teams in the Final.

Wild, Caps, Blues, Preds, Jackets, etc.

Between boring ass hockey and the fact that the same teams seem to dominate lately.......will be so nice to have the Leafs/Oilers in the playoffs this season.

Pens/Hawks fans seem to be ok with the idea. Everybody else hates it.

Surprising.

Boring, dull as **** hockey. People want stifling defensive hockey under 40 shots total and minimal scoring chances. This Hawks vs Pens talk makes me want to go to bed. Booooring. Give the people what they want for a change.

Not if San Jose gets Chicago. Sharks can neutralize their top two lines and have more depth at forward and defense...it's like the opposite of the 2010 series.

Yeah.....only they don't "have more depth". So there's that...

When are people gonna wake up and realize this Hawks team has depth. At forward and on defense.

It's getting very annoying reading comments from people that clearly don't know the current Hawks team saying "they've lost their depth".

I think the answer is no simply due to the freaking Metro. Pens most likely playing CBJ or Washington in the first round. Their gift for being #2/3 best overall record in the NHL will be to play the #2/3 best overall record in the NHL.

Whatever teams comes out of that mess will only be half way there. Insane. So 2 of Pens/CBJ/Caps will be out of the playoffs before the ECF. And while that may look like a disappointment on paper, there's nothing they can do about it.

As for Chicago... I think their division is faltering and they are clearly the best team. But that WCF will not be easy.

A Pittsburgh-Chicago matchup would be kinda anti-climatic.

Let's have some new blood: how about Columbus-Minnesota

I will be really glad to see this match-up in the finals but think that Washington in the East and San Jose in the West can deny it.

My preseason prediction was Chicago-TB. If I could do it again, it would be Chicago-Pitt.

Highly unlikely.

Pitt's health is an issue and Chicago is not the best team in the West anymore.

I mean I don't mind them watching on TV or even being in the stands when we play them, but otherwise I don't see it happening.

Um, who is the best team in the west then? Chicago has the best record by a fair margin

Injury hell is a bit of an overstatement. Malkin's day to day and skating, Letang isn't supposed to be out for too long either (the specifics with him are less clear, they say he isn't concussed though).

i don't see it happening, getting out of the metro will be a tall task for the pens. Columbus plays them really well
