Not sure if you can detect the sarcasm.

Their underlying numbers have them as a middle-of-the-pack team. Bobrovsky is the big difference-maker.

As for talent at all positions, they won't be going anywhere without an elite C.

Congrats to the Jackets. I'm hoping for another Jackets/Pens series because the one a few years ago was fun.

Do you think they're just prepping for the highly likely playoffs matchup or they just truly have a really strong inferiority complex?

IS it impossible to just congratulate a team on a good season without the nonsense? Apparently so.

Except for at centre. Their underlying numbers aren't great.

I highly doubt that the defending Stanley Cup Champions have an inferiority complex towards Columbus, of all teams.

Very slim chance they beat either Pitt or WSH, looks like another year will pass without a series victory.

Blue Jacket fan here..

I mean, I guess you could say they might have overachieved a bit in getting points.. They did win 16 games in a row, and that doesn't happen very often in any professional sports. But, I'm in the boat- That's 32 points we did earn in the standings and we have 100 points in the year tied with Washington. Who cares to nitpick how many points we would get from that streak if we were to play "at our average all year" and Bob weren't to be playing so gosh darn well all year..

But, for discussion sake.. I actually think this is a good team that is set up well for the future..

In net, you have Sergei Bobrovsky- Look what a good, hot goaltender can do for you in the league.. He won the vezina trophy in 2013. Battled injuries the last couple years. Lost 15 pounds this offseason that was previously put on as muscle, and has regained his mental edge.

Defense- Seth Jones-Zach Werenski.. That's a very good, young #1 D pairing. Werenski at the age of 19 has 46 points on the year with a +22 rating in his first NHL season.
David Savard-Jack Johnson- playing some really good hockey. I think they found their niche of what they are in the league.

Forwards- I actually think this team has a good depth of solid forwards with different type of styles.

This team has shown the ability to win different type of hockey games throughout the year with Bobrovsky in net.. I think this team is slightly more dangerous than some like to give credit for.. Not saying we are going to sweep the 1st round of the playoffs, win the Stanley Cup.. Because, we are in the Metro Division with the Capitals and Penguins all within 1 point of each other lol.

And yet your first post in the thread was inciting others who thought they wouldn't be able to keep at this level. So only the people who are right can engage in nonsense?

Anyway, congratulations to the Blue Jackets. They exceeded expectations and I hope they maintain it in the playoffs.

Exactly. I actually like the Penguins team - super talented at the skill positions, have overcome all kinds of injuries, and they are a heckuva lot of fun to watch. As evidenced by this board though, their fans are absolutely insufferable.

Congrats to the Jackets. They may lose in the first round, but, if they do, they're guaranteed to take a pound of flesh with them.

If I were a pens fan I'd chill. This is a deep team with a very good defense and one of the top goalies in the league. This has upset team written all over it. Pittsburgh would of course be the favorite but not by that much. All it takes is a hot goalie and secondary scoring and anyone can knock off anyone. Jackets seem quite capable of both.

That's okay; we have Jones and Werenski to help make up the difference.

Yep. Well, except for Hartnell's 91 games, and Saad's two cup rings, and those two guys we picked up at the deadline, and Jones's time with the Preds, and half of the rest of the roster having been in that series the Pens fans in here are crowing about and most of the other half having swept their way to the Calder Cup last year. But yeah. Totally inexperienced otherwise. Yep.

Seriously, the Jackets' ostensible lack of experience has been pretty seriously overstated. There's Wennberg and Karlsson and that's kind of it.

Before the Pens fans begin talking all their junk, they need to worry about whether or not they even PLAY Columbus. With the way Cbus are playing, there's no reason why they couldn't win the division, and then it would be Pittsburgh/Washington in the first round.

If THAT happens, Columbus would be in the driver's seat. Because they, they'd be looking at a SECOND round matchup against the survivor, who would come out of that series with scabs and bruises, and be staring at the guy who may be the best goaltender in hockey at that moment.

All that huh? Chris Kunitz alone has more cup playing for and winning experience than that Columbus roster.

Yes and no the Quincey (played with Detroit) pick up helps the defense, Dubinsky,Hartnell,Saad have been around the block and the young guys like (Werenski,Sedlak, Anderson,Borkstrand) won 16 games to win the Calder Cup last year

Congratulations on your playoff berth. And just the second team to do it this year too. That's pretty good! Get that on the banner.
