Is there a video from another angle ? It appear to be an elbow but I can't actually see where the elbow hits him in the video in the OP.

Better late than never.
That's best case scenario.

I can't believe the ref didn't catch that. He was looking straight at them

Of course. I forgot, people on a forum can't have different opinions.

For the record, I love Doughty. I've got a Kings Doughty jersey, I have a Doughty Team Canada jersey. I'm not thrilled he could have been potentially hurt.

I'd guess he gets a call from the league when they take a second look at it.

He's gonna need to be careful, he likes to play on the line but he's had a few questionable plays already in his first season if he doesn't reign it in a bit he will find himself on the repeat offenders list. Physical play is a big part of his game and if he loses the benefit of the doubt he will be getting called on everything and hurting his team, not to mention getting calls from the league on anything close to questionable.

Looked like a reverse hit that he tried in the same shift earlier. He definitely got his elbow up high and he'll get suspended for probably a game or 2. Tkachuk is still a young kid who walks the line between pest and dirty. He's a smart kid and I'm sure he'll eventually figure out what he can do and what he shouldn't do.

He doesn't need to rely on being a pest to have a job at the NHL level and will become far too important of a player not to curtail these types of plays.

The normal camera angle shows it better, but I can't find a zoomed in/slowed down version of it.

I thought Tkachuk got him with the shoulder from the OP's angle, but I also think it could be elbow the more I look at it. I don't think anyone can say 100% definitive without the other angle, but I am 95% sure it's an elbow.

It's also a clear headshot though. Not defending it, it's dirty, but Doughty didn't miss a shift and no penalty was called so I don't think he gets suspended.

I like that Tkachuk is coming in his first year and going after the best players in the world. Dirty? Yeah. Nobody is going to pick on him though...

Because both are not mutually-exclusive. You can be a good player and cross the line. Case in point Marchand, Kesler, Perry and etc.

Really? I thought Oilers fans are complaining he's done it to them.

he will probably get 1 game since it seems Doughty is fine, and it's Tkachuk's first offense I think

I wouldn't say ignore more than the ref wasn't even looking in that direction it seems.

I think 2 games for this.

Yeah that's how I saw it too. Almost definitely an elbow but I can't quite see it in the video. It's hard to guess what kind of discipline a hit would get when it isn't directly visible.

Yeah he tried to run Draisatl twice and McDavid cross checked the puke in the face.

This is what happens when you don't suspend a dirty player. He now thinks he can get away with anything.

Disgusting.
