Montreal 4 goals Karlsson on ice for all 4. And the tards here says he's a better Dman than Weber. Hahahahahaha
That's the problem with the Norris trophy nowadays; it goes to the defenseman with the best offensive numbers.

The Norris should be given to the best defensive D-man. Come up with a trophy that's the blueliner's version of the Selke—an award that honors the highest scoring defender. Call it the Orr trophy or the Coffey trophy—after the two players who own the top 10 highest season point totals for a defenseman in NHL history.

Nice one by CJ on Gagnon's question.

For those who didn't watch:

Gagnon: Aside from his speed, what makes Byron so relied upon to play big minutes for you?

CJ: Well, he's from Ottawa. It gave him a head start.

Price was a rock, Emelin and Pleks were decent and Beaulieu scored!
Thats why I didnt want him to be traded even when he was slumping. Most dmen focus on him way too much and forgets their other responsibilities.. lol

Fun fact for you.
Byron gets paid 1.166 million and has 20 goals. Phil Kessel has 22 goals for Pittsburgh and Toronto pays him 1.2.

It was almost perfect, but the Centaurs got one point in the standings.

That line as a whole has been useless, no need to single only one of them out.

No regulation goals from Galchenyuk, Pacioretty or Radulov this weekend and the Habs still get 2 big wins this weekend. Great to have the secondary scoring show up when needed.

Would be nice to see the 1st line show up again soon though.

when you look at this team they're playing well under CJ. I love the bottom 6..big mac, ott, mitchell, king...
waterbugs in byron, gally and shaw...
and the big 3...
the D is also A LOT tougher with benn and weber...
i pray they figure out a way to find a top C in summer and
either sergachev or another PMD...and they're legit..
as it is, playing like this they can get out of atlantic
but i don't think has firepower to overcome Pittsburgh

Radulov was implicated tonight and Max has carried the team for a good portion of the season.

I remember one backcheck that Galchenyuk made and it was at the start of his shift.....this guy is bothered and STILL hurt. It's clear as day.

Emelin gets so much hate that it wouldnt be fair to not congratulate him when he plays well.. Well tonight he was pretty good and I liked McCarron alot as well, 3rd consecutive game where he looks pretty good skating and forechecking well while throwing his size around and using that long reach very nicely.. I said it and will say it again, get King off the ice and play BigMac instead, the kid bring much more to the table than King.

I don't think it should go strictly to the best defensive dman or else guys like Gill could win it. Don't forget some "experts" considered Gill as one of the best dman in the league defensively speaking. He was listed as top 30 by some of them.

Playing well defensively when you leave the zone using the board 100% of the time is not that hard. It just require a commitment to play the most boring game ever played. Most skilled guys simply wont accept to do that on a regular basis.

I think offensive qualities should still be taken into consideration. The job of a dman is not only to defend but to get the puck out of the zone in control so the forward can generate offense.

Maybe the trophies could be the best dman in the defensive zone (defensively and offensively) and the best offense dman all over the ice. But imo offensive play should be considered even for a defensive minded trophy. Anyone can play the safe no error game. It's just boring. Doing well defensively while trying to generate offense is where the real skill is. Offense starts with the defense. Always has been always will be. If you ice 6 Josh Gorges and Gill you wont score any goals.

Radulov was horrible tonight, and has been playing worse than Galchenyuk for quite some time. Pac was floating out there too. That line simply doesn't work.

Bergevin was inspired when he picked up Byron on waivers. I wonder where he got the insight, or prescience, or whatever you call it.
