The worst 6 man D lineup your team has iced this year.

EDIT: A new low has been reached and this thread had to be re-bumped.
Check for the updated Jets lineup for Friday (Mar-24th) game vs the Ducks!

Today the Jets sunk to a new low.
Because of injuries Winnipeg iced a lineup consisting of only 2 NHL caliber defencemen and varying degrees of awful behind that.

Trouba, Enstrom, Myers & Postma are out injured.
That left us with this.

Josh Morrisey - rookie savior, thrown into first pairing assignments all year. Aside from Trouba our best and most consistent D-MAN

Big Buff - good offensive defencemen but having a real weak defensive year. More of a rover than a d-man at times. Has particularly struggled in games where he plays more than 28 minutes (which has been a regular occurrence).

Ben Chiariot - more of a 6/7 PK guy. Big physical, has a cannon of a shot which never hits or gets to the net. Abysmal at puck retrieval and movement in our zone.

Julian Melchiori - mediocre bad AHL level D. Nothing really stands out either way... just not good enough for the NHL

Brian Straight - Called by our friends from NYI "the worst defencemen in the NHL" the last few years. He's played 3rd pairing in the AHL and not done well. Today was his first regular season game as a Jet.

Mark Stuart - a once beloved hard as nails shot blocker. This "company man" has long since seen any resemblance to NHL level skill leave his body. He's so bad he makes the other guys on this list look decent.

Now the first thing someone will say is "you won 5-4"... yes we did but that was a fluke. 4 goals on our first 8 shots will help a team out that way. We also gave up a 4-0 lead and got dominated throughout most of the game.

Has any other team iced a 6 man unit that weak this season?

*** Spoiler - just for fun it looks like Chiarot may now be hurt and the Jets may be digging deeper into a bare cupboard on Tuesday

Our starting lineup on D with no injuries is worse than that honestly.

Brodie - Engelland
Giordano - Wideman
Grossmann - Hamilton

Engelland is a fine bottom pairing guy and can do spot duty if someone is injured, but he should never be on a top pairing. Wideman isn't really an NHLer anymore and he's been bumped out of the lineup since. Grossmann was just terrible. I think he was directly responsible for 3 goals in his first game. Luckily that experiment ended quickly.

Colorado was close while they still had EJ out although I think the Jets take the proverbial cake

Devils entire line-up against the Yotes' on the back-end of their road trip -- which completed a 10 game losing streak down to 28th in the league -- was awful:

Taylor Hall-Adam Henrique-Kyle Palmieri
Beau Bennett-Joseph Blandisi-Nick Lappin
Miles Wood-Pavel Zacha-Nick Lappin
Blake Coleman-Kevin Rooney-Blake Pietila

Andy Greene-Steven Santini
Jon Merrill -Ben Lovejoy
John Moore - Damon Severson

That forward group is brutal though. The game before in COL they had Zajac up front, Smith-Pelley at forward (who is a complete possession anchor), but Dalton Prout in for Greene on defense so it was just as bad:

Merrill - Lovejoy
Moore - Severson
Prout - Santini

That's pretty horrendous ^^

Sabres did something like
Gorges - Risto
McCabe - Fedun
Falk - Bergdorfer

If I remember correctly. 2 NHLers, a good #7, a good #8, Josh Gorges, and Bergdorfer. I don't even know who he is.

Colorado definitely wins. They were missing EJ and Barrie at one point.

Fedor Tyutin - Nikita Zadorov
Francois Beauchemin - Cody Goloubef
Patrick Wiercoich - Eric Gelinas

2 guys who need to be put out to pasture, 2 healthy scratches, 1 essentially a rookie 21 year old and 1 disaster who is in the AHL now.

Copied from the GDT today
8 Dumoulin – 4 Schultz
51 Pouliot – 28 Cole
32 Streit – 2 Ruhwedel

It's been worse this season too

Montreal iced some pretty miserable D-corps after Subban went down last year. In their last game of the season theyplayed:
Andrei Markov
Alexei Emelin
Greg Pateryn
Ryan Johnston
Darren Dietz
Joel Hanley

Hanley played over Beau for a game I believe.

Tough to say for Columbus. Do you consider losing Jones or losing Savard+Murray at the same time to be worse?

Either way, we always had a formidable D group in the lineup, thank god.

The Avs easily have beaten this I think. Both EJ and Barrie were out simultaneously for several games together at one point. This was the Avs defense from a GDT:

FEDOR TYUTIN - FRANCOIS BEAUCHEMIN
ERIC GELINAS - CODY GOLOUBEF
NIKITA ZADOROV - PATRICK WIERCIOCH

When Rielly went down with an ankle injury the Leafs D may have been the worst blueline I'd ever seen. It was amazing how bad they were. There were 2 NHL players on those lines, Zaitsev and Gardiner. I can't remember the exact lines but it was something like:

Gardiner-Polak
Hunwick-Zaitsev
Marincin-Carrick

Right up there with the Avs. Amazing that we're still in the playoff hunt and that Andersen didn't go postal.

How about I just name who we have out:

Kris Letang
Olli Maatta
Trevor Daley
Ron Hainsey

It's left us with Ruhwedel and Pouliot playing regular minutes with Gaunce getting some time too and they have heavily relied on Dumoulin, Schultz, Cole, and Streit.
