When Hakstol scratched Ghost, he rolled out something like:
Ivan Provorov - Michael del Zotto
Nick Schultz - Andrew MacDonald
Radko Gudas - Brandon Manning

Apparently according to some of the peeps who think they are "experts" on our Rangers board, my Rongos have the worst defensive corps tin the league despite the fact we are going to win 50+ games and around 110 points.

You can't make **** like this up folks....lol

At one point this season:

Ekholm-Ellis
Irwin-Weber
Bitteto-Granberg

Yeah.... (I may be wrong on the bottom pairing, I don't remember exactly, but when Josi and Subban both went down, it became a nightmare). Ekholm and Ellis did well, but you could tell they couldn't handle top line minutes.

Flames:

Giordano-Wideman
Brodie-Engelland
Grossmann-Hamilton

God that was terrible, especially as our top 3 all underachieved.

Last season for the Blues we had run:
Bouwmeester-Shattenkirk
Gunnarsson-Parayko
Edmundson-Bortuzzo which truth be told is still a top 15 D corps in the league, and much better than the tirefire that Nashville and Calgary had at one point this season, but losing Pietrangelo, exposing Shattenkirk to top pairing, and Edmundson and Parayko still developing, it definitely wasn't the prettiest of sights.

I've seen the Rangers board during games vs the Leafs. You'd think McDonagh was a #7 if you went by what fans say. Yeah, I know, we're all our teams worst critics but man oh man, it blows me away when fans are criticizing an elite D for every small error they make. Try having Roman "must ice puck" Polak in your top 4. It absolutely blows my mind that any GM could watch him play and think "hey, that guys pretty damn good". It works this way with every fanbase though. Toronto has a top PP but if they don't score every time we're up in arms as if we expect them to score every time out.

Canucks had Edler and Tanev injured at the same time for a little while.

Hutton Gudbranson
Sbisa Larsen
Tryamkin Stecher

And then Larsen got KTFO by Hall

Sbisa Gudbranson
Hutton Stecher
Tryamkin Biega

The Flyers dressed

-Ivan Provorov
-Radko Gudas

-Andrew MacDonald
-Mark Streit
-Brandon Manning
-Michael Del Zotto

When Hakstol got drunk and scratched Ghost.

I separated the good defensemen from the bad ones.

When both Josi and Subban went down:

Irwin - Ellis
Ekholm - Weber
Bitetto - Granberg

IIRC I think we actually won more games then we lost when we iced that.

Literally any of the Sabres defensive pairings this year. Tonight:

Risto
McCabe
Gorges
Franson
Bogo
Brady Austin (first NHL start, won't get a minor contract after this year) horrid

Tough call, but I'd go with losing Jones. When Savard and Murray were down, Harrington stepped up and actually played pretty well, and we just gave more and more minutes to Werenski-Jones. When Jones went down, Werenski-Savard was shockingly effective, but Murray-JJ was... not good. And both of those gave us the bottom pairing of Nutivaara-Prout - a pairing that on paper should be great for both, but in practice...

And yes, we've been absolutely disgustingly fortunate in this regard. Some of the lineups ITT would see Nutivaara-Prout as a major upgrade.

It was pretty terrible, our :

best
4th best
5th best
6th best

dmen injured, and now possibly our 7th best dman.

I really hope UND crashes and burns soon so we can at least use this scenario to get a good look at Poolman (if he signs).

When Lindell is the brightest spot on your D there are some issues.

It's not like the Jets D were doing a good job even before they iced those 3. Have you checked their GA lately?

I love how the Flames are put in here, yet, they are doing well as of late. Maybe defensive pairings weren't great chemistry-wise, but that wasn't anywhere close to the worst. Jets, Devils and Red Wings had some of the worst IMO.

The thread is asking to share the worst unit your team has iced this season.

You could make an argument that only one of these defensemen is actual a top 6 defenseman in Severson, who is definitely not a top pair guy and might not even be a middle pair guy. Moore and Lovejoy are like 6/7s. Merrill might be 6/7 if you squint hard enough. Prout and Santini are just terrible.

I can read that. Thanks for the inquiry, but my point still stands. Having your top 3 dmen in the lineup isn't the worst iced dmen this year. Not even close.
