Can you imagine how bush league Chevy and the Jets would look running ECHL d'men because they wouldn't go find decent depth players?
We're 11 deep in our depth chart. The overall quality of our D is one thing but to criticize this far down the list is overkill IMO. Unless your D are young and waiver exempt (which only lasts for a brief time) it's impossible to have any sort of quality that far down the chart.

Our patchwork D will carry us to the promised land! Just you wait and see!

Good for Nogier! (Not looking good for the D however)

I wish the Moose would try to get a guy like Zajac to come back.

I actually have liked Nogier's evident improvement over the last couple of years. He was one of the pleasant surprises for me at the summer development camp and during this season with the Moose. He still has a long way to go, however he might be a depth organization defenseman in the future.

Nogier was hands down better then Kostalek against the Ice Hogs or whatever they're called on Saturday night. From the 20 ish games I've been to over the past two seasons, Kostalek really hasn't improved that much. Nogier has.

Interesting, thanks guys. Probably safe to assume that Kichton no longer figures in their future plans.

Has Nogier improved his puckhandling a bit? He was slinging it around like a grenade at the prospect tourney.

He made a couple of nice passes out of the zone Sat night. Not that the Moose were in their zone a lot early on in that game.

That's absolutely fair. It's essentially universal that the 11th best defenseman on any given team should be pretty much on par with the 11th best defenseman on any other team. Our problem is that our 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th best defensemen aren't any better. In fact it's sort of unclear which is which.

I'm basically arguing a semantic, though. I think this issue goes back to a terrible group of prospects from Atlanta being augmented by drafting focused on forwards, and a slightly higher than usual interest in NCAA players.

If guys like Glover and Poolman had been CHL players, they'd already have played in the AHL and we'd have more options. I think we'll get there soon, though.

tldr: Our 11D is fine, but we have 5 of them and no 7-10D

Green should be on an ATO already, loads of space for him to make an impact on the Moose.

Nelson Nogier: On getting the call up. Who did he call? What was his parents reaction like? How does he assess his year so far? What does he need to work on to improve his game? On the change from Junior to the AHL game. What were the nerves like today? Did playing in the Memorial Cup help him prepare? Playing a more advanced role with the Moose with all the recalls? Handling the next 24 hours. What are the biggest strengths to his game?

Good.

We're not in a playoff race so give a young player a chance.

I suspect we may see all the AHLers, Poolman and possibly Green (one game?) play a few games this year. Wonder if Stanley will be healed in-time for a few games?

need to have a poll going on who will get playing time.

Friday afternoon. They play the All-Star Boston University team at 3pm and should lose. I say should because BU is very deep and talented, but UND's been playing really well the last three weeks, so you never know.

It's easy to get a bit cynical (Guilty) when we watch the Jets do their annual rite of passage and bail out of contention sometime around Jan and make it official when the math finally delivers that knockout punch in March. So it is always good for me to listen to an interview like this with Nogier. I laughed when his mom was saying they were going to drive to Winnipeg just to see him practice with the Jets. Happy for any young kid to achieve an important milestone of their dream to play in the NHL one day.

He's a stay at home, shut-down defender. Good at blocking shots. Reminds me a little of Ron Hainsey.
