I would love to see Kostitsyn get the call. He seems to be gaining some confidence and producing on a pretty weak team in the AHL lately. We could use some creativity and offensive awareness. I honestly think he belongs. That being said, don't bring him up to play him with Begin and Downey. You drafted him as a top 6 forward, play him there and see what he can do for you.

Kostitsyn has been a bright spot lately, much like Perezhogin since returning from hamilton. It seems both have understood that hockey is played in three zones and along the boards. The simple fact Kostitsyn has been forechecking and backchecking is a great sign. He also seems to work hard. For a guy with his skills, there's no telling what he could do. Personally, I set the standarts pretty low with our prospects.

That said, lets go Perezhogin, Plekanec, Higgins and Komisarek! They've been pretty great for a while now. Perezhogin and Komisarek most particularly we're our worst players for some time, great to see them improve this much under Gainey.

I tend to agree with you.

In as much as I thought he was a fine asset a few years back, he doesn't seem to show up most games these days. I was at the game on Tuesday and it's crazy how little intensity he displays during his shifts. Never wins any one-on-one battles on the boards either.

He'll be moved soon or during the off season at the latest.

Since Kostitsyn hasn't been called up, I'm going to assume Sundstrom will get plugged in to replace Zednik while the other lines will remain the same:

Higgins-Koivu-Ryder
Perezhogin-Ribeiro-Kovalev
Bulis-Plekanec-Sundstrom
Begin-Bonk-Downey

Markov-Komisarek
Souray-Rivet
Bouillon-Dandenault

Huet
Theo

Its going to be VERY exciting when the Ribeiro line starts finishing some of the chances they generate...that line has been really fun to watch lately.

Afinogenov scares the hell out of me every time we play the sabres. Its like every time he touches the puck something happens.

Not only that but he is a MAJOR puck hog and how many times have we seen him take the puck, enter the zone, go around the net with one hand on his stick, waste valuable seconds and end up creating nothing out of it? Way too many times.

I doubt a report that a guy who hasn't played in over a week is going bald will be that much of a distraction.

good work by downey forcing the turn over behind the net with a good check leading to begin's scoring chance
