potvin is my guess, and i'd be happy with that choice. the avs are gonna throw everything at us- and potvin really kept us in there on saturday night, so i say he's the guy. raycroft would then get his first home start of the year on thursday.
This is a tough question....The Bruins are playing basically the top offensive team in the NHL..Alot of great snipers on that team...Would you want a goalie that cuts down angles, or a goalie that plays deep and relies on quickness? its a tough call..I might go with razor on this one though..he played well against Dallas..so why not?
I go with Potvin tonight. Both goalies have played very well thus far and until one falters I think you alternate them. If one steps up and takes the ball then you give it to him. As of right now I don't think that either has showed that they are clearly deserving of the #1 role. So swap them until someone has a clear advantage. The only case I can make for Razor over Potvin tonight is that the avs haven't seen Razor as much over the past years. Selanne Hejduk Forsberg Sakic and Kariya all should know just what they have to do to beat Potvin. With that talent though they should be able to beat anybody.
I actually think Raycroft stands a better chance of winning this game. BUT...in the long run it makes sense to bring Raycroft along carefully. Some tough games (like Dallas) are good early in the season...but not too many. As level-headed as he is...the team needs to do whatever it can to instill confidence in him. And even though the B's are feeling good about themselves right now, Colorado is always capable of blowing out a team.
Besides...since Potvin started opening night...I'd like to see Raycroft in for the next home game. So Felix tonight...then Razor.
should be a fun game to watch...end of the road trip, team is on a roll. hopefully they can tie up the avs a little bit, as without the trapping clutch and grabbing style, we'd lose 41-1 tonight. i think it'll be a shootout.
Not sure how accurate the Denver Post is w/their info (did they talk to Sully?? we don't know), but they say it's Potvin tonight:
Footnotes: David Aebischer will start in goal for Colorado against Felix Potvin. Chris McAllister, normally a defenseman, will play wing tonight on a line with Jim Cummins and Bates Battaglia. Avs rookie forward Cody McCormick will be a healthy scratch. Teemu Selanne has a point in each of his first four games for Colorado.
potvin will go tonight for sure, he has had good success against the avs in the past, even taking them to the 7th game a couple years back. although kayria and selanne were not there, they still had the others forsberg sakic hejduk ect. i hope the team playes well in front of him, he has played very good keeping the b's alive in his starts so far this year, unfortunatly he dosnt have the numbers to show how well he has really played.
I HOPE TO GOD THE BRUINS STAY OUT OF THE BOX TONIGHT!! THAT POWERPLAY WILL KILL US!!!!
after all whats the pk this year?? like 33% or something rediculas like that
Both Raycroft and Potvin have played well. I'm fine with either one and i'm with Potvin tonight and Rayzor on Thursday against the Canes.
The two have gave the Bruins a chance to win in each game this year (maybe not the TB game...) and they allowed just 4 goals when they were 5 on 5. i think its 11 SH goals allowed. I t hurts but they are playing well at 5 on 5.
Goalies been good.
The PK's can't be worst.
The PP is getting better.
The forward started to generate some offence.
Knuble is back where he belong.
We have a lot of grit.
There are some youngster that are playing very well (Bergeron-Jillson-Raycroft)
It will be a good game tonight.
Last wednesday they were also on TSN against the Stars.
Rayzor got the shutout.
Maybe Potvin can do the same tonight???
Anyhow it will be a very good game i think... and Potvin won't get the shutout but he will have to be great to give his team a chance to win against this colorado team! They are way to good with the puck!
Also, Thornton is due to have one of his 3-4 points night.
One thing is for certain...the BV`s CANNOT have another 1st period bungle as they have had all year!
This Av team can rip off 4 or 5 1st period goals if we continue our 1st period trend!
But I have confidence that they will play a very good 1st period.
The 2nd is the one I worry about tonight. Sometimes you key yourself up so much to come out strong against a top club like Colorado.
Then after you have that strong start, you relax TOO MUCH and they take it to you in the 2nd.
As for the goalies...regardless of who starts tonight, and regardless of who plays...I`d start the other against the Hurricanes.
They need to continue this rotation for another 25-30 games or so.
Let someone OUTRIGHT claim the job. As long as both are playing well, you cant really give the job to one of them. And the committment to a #1 cant come after just a couple rough outings by one or the other.
