Hopefully we'll come back fired up after getting toasted by Dallas. In the past, I would say it's a guarantee that you'll see maximum effort tonight, but I am worried that this won't be the case. Several times we have followed up spankings with losses, and we haven't had one off losses too often this year. When we've had losses, we've had clusters of them. We might be in the middle of a cluster.
Hopefully we'll bring our 'A' game and show the league that are deserve to be a part of the upper echelon. We have the game to beat these guys. We just need to show it.
Defenseman Mark Eaton and forward Scott Walker were injured during Monday's game in Dallas, and both flew back to Nashville Tuesday to be checked out by team physician Michael J. Pagnani, MD.
Eaton, who suffered a shoulder injury, was cleared and returned to join the team in Detroit. He is expected to be in the lineup tonight.
Walker, who has been diagnosed with a sprained wrist, remained in Nashville and is not expected to be back in the lineup before the start of the Olympic break (Feb. 12).
so no walker these next three games.. wonder if they place walker on the IR again and maybe upshall gets the call up or if they simply activate nichol instead?
That would definitely be the smart thing to do. I would be extremely intrested to see how a Sullivan - Sillinger - Upshall line would work. I think it could be very effective. One of Walker's strength's has always been his forechecking ability. Lately, though, he has not been able to forecheck with any consistency, and his speed is probably 2 steps (not just one) below where he is usually at. Upshall will be an upgrade in speed along with physical play. Granted, a healthy Walker would be extremely more effective, but at this point, I think Upshall can provide what Walker is bringing on a nightly basis (minus the locker room intangibles and clear cut leader aspect).
It will be interesting to see how we attack Detroit. I loved the agressiveness we have been seeing out of Erat and Hartnell the past 3-4 games. If we can get them to stay revved up, I think we can score 2-3 goals even strength against Detroit with their respective lines.
During the singing of the national anthem they had the words to it on a reader board... is this common? I've only been to one NHL game before and scores of minor league games and i've never seen that before.
Fidler goes down and goes to the locker room, no word yet.
I thought to myself, hey, maybe this is a blessing in disguise....now Trotz will be forced to switch up some of his right wingers and be creative.
What was I thinking!?!?! We just insert Jerred Smithson on the line. Much like we just inserted Vernon Fiddler in for our 2nd line right winger. I mean, we all know 4th line pluggers are great in a scoring role!
All criticisms aside, that truly was a boring period of hockey. Vokoun definitely wishes he had that one back...
Didn't it feel like 3/4 of the time was down in our end...but only 8-7 on shots on goal.
Preds can't connect on a pass to save their soul.....Sillinger the worst of puck control of all.....2on2 fumbles the puck, finally gets control...loses it again....man
Preds seem to just be getting outworked again.
Can't believe no penalties, just can't seem to generate much, then lose control of the puck in the neutral zone and have Daytsuk or Zetterberg bearing down on us again....got a feeling this is going to be a long night boys....
I'm sick of Micky. He's bashing Hartnell when Legace falls over in his own net, and while I couldn't see a closer replay of the play, Hartnell skated close but didn't even touch Manny, and Manny flops on his back and lays there.
I could be wrong and I'd like to see a closer replay, but that's what I saw.
It's very disappointing to see the Preds come out like this against the Red Wings; especially after dropping back to back games against Dallas. We may be third overall in the conference points-wise but it appears we are not up to the Dallas/Detroit level of play yet.
We are getting spanked about as hard as we have in any game yet this season.....outshot 20-2 last period .....if we don't come out with some fire and establish something in the third, we are likely going to get the same spanking tomorrow as well...
