When FOX had the NHL OTA rights, they had some non NHL guys doing games like Dick Stockton or even Josh Lewin, but to be fair FOX did 6 games most weeks back then. Jiggs McDonald did games for them too.

This is why we belong in the Eastern Conference.

I second the motion! Nashville's crew is bad. The Wild's crew are HOMERS. I would watch the games with the sound off, if necessary!

No, NBC will refuse to show Nashville unless they are in the SCF and don't have a choice!

I remember when the Preds finished in the top 8 two years in a row. They had no regular season games on NBC the next season. That was just GARBAGE! You get O6 teams and maybe the Flyers, Pens and Sharks.

Just tell yourself that the NHL loves the Perds so much that they treat them as premium content and require fans to buy Gamecenter/Centre Ice to watch them. You can't give Colin Wilson away for free.

When i used to have NHLCI, the TSN Leafs crew were homers too. I remember one game in Chicago when the Blackhawks didn't televise back then, and i had to listen to Joe Bowen and Harry Neale. That was a lot of bias. I remember that the ESPN2 games were in the package, and during the 02 playoffs, i watched the CBC feed of Montreal-Boston with Don Wittman and John Davidson rather than ESPN2. Same thing on the Stars-Oilers series in 01 with Chris Cuthbert and Greg Millen. I always went with HNIC rather than ESPN2.

They're not homers; they're just bad. There's a difference. Boston's guys, now those are homers. Complaining about every call, making childish voices while taking potshots at opposing teams' players... I can't believe they're even allowed on the air. By contrast, Minnesota's PBP guys either miss the action because they're talking over it (LaPanta), or contribute nonsense gibberish to the telecast (Greenlay). Actually, the latter is a lot like a poor man's hockey version of John Madden. You know, the "I really think scoring more goals than the opposition helped the Wild win tonight," kind of crap

Pierre McGuire was just on CKGM radio in Montreal and while the schedule is not official yet it looks like NBC will send Doc, Eddie and Pierre to Montreal next Wednesday for Montreal/Rangers.

I'm betting the Rogers feed for OTT/BOS if that comes up, and maybe for ANA/CGY. Maybe Doc does CHI/NSH too, but they may use Kenny Albert for that one, but he is the Rangers radio guy correct?

Both are terrible choices. These are the two announcers I can't stand more than any other in all of sports!

Here is NBC's game plan for the first round

http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2017/04/10/...ound-schedule/

They have 3 series that involves NBC owned RSN's that cover Washington, Chicago and San Jose. They send Game 1 of the Boston/Ottawa series to the NHL Network but then put Game 2 on the mothership.

They don't have the option of 2 Canadian teams going head to head which rules out picking up a Rogers feed.

Rogers will produce games involving the 5 Canadian teams and pick a US feed for the other 3 series. One certain bet is they will avoid a NBC produced game that uses TSN talent.

NBC will use Rick Ball/John Garrett on ANA/CGY. Are you so sure they will use CSN though, since my guess is Dave Randorf/Louie DeBrusk for EDM/SJ.

There is no "choice". Those are their number one and number two teams.

I say that because I can't stand either of their voices and they are force feeding one of them to us by forcing game 2 onto NBC.

Doc talks through his nose which is worse than nails on a chalkboard and Kenny talks like he is trying to do a cartoon voice over.

I guess I'll be watching that game on mute.

If it prevents them from using the Chicago announcers, I'll take it.

As terrible as they are, I'd rather listen to Stupid and Willy.

NBC announcers for Game 1

Game 1 Matchup Play-by-Play Analysts

NYR-MTL Gord Miller Ray Ferraro
BOS-OTT Bob Cole Greg Millen
CBJ-PIT Mike “Doc” Emrick Pierre McGuire
STL-MIN John Forslund Brian Boucher
SJ-EDM Brendan Burke Mike Johnson
TOR-WSH Dave Strader Brian Boucher
NSH-CHI Kenny Albert Pierre McGuire
CGY-ANA Rick Ball John Garrett

So NBC is producing six Game 1's.

Wonderful to see Dave Strader on the roster

Sharks looking like they'll have local broadcasters for all games (at least first 4 games).

Guessing they may have similar/shared cameras.

Most likely. I remember them doing a Tampa-Chicago broadcast earlier this year where the pictures were from csn Chicago, but had their own announcers.

With NBCSN being able to air side by side with the local broadcast, they may not use the csn broadcast as much anymore.

Had to come look to find out who this was on PBP in Edmonton. He's pretty good.
