I don't want Streit to be in our top 6 for now...our depht isn't that great so I would pass. Also, Bertuzzi contract is really big so I don't think I would be ready to do that...

No thanks. Ryder is our only sniper and he is also just in his second season.

Vancouver fans say Bertuzzi is the biggest floater this year. No way I'm trading a 30-40 goal scorrer for Bertuzzi. If you make a trade you want to improve your team...not trade 4 quarters for a dollar.
I'm not too keen on Bertuzzi right now...I was earlier this season but not anymore.

Ryder is a keeper, he stays with the Habs. will be good for many years to come. why should we trade him?

keep Ryder

In 4 year from now who will be better, ryder or bertuzzi? Ryder can be the leader of a young canadiens team.

I'd take Bertuzzi if it were for Theodore (we can thrown in something if they do too).

Otherwise, I'd stay away from his salary / additional floater-ness, and keep a young, cheap Ryder, and a Top 4 d-man in Souray.

in 4 years from now, Bertuzzi might as well be retired. Ryder will be dominating.

Vancouver is laughing all the way because they get the D they need and a younger goal scorer...I say Montreal is robbed big time!

Ryder at $1,000,000
Souray at $2,128,000

is still way cheaper than Bertuzzi at $5,269,333.00 a difference of $2,141,333!

Not to mention Bertuzzi is worse at only 20 goals (sure he has 52 points, but his linemates are Naslund and Morrison and look at their totals over Koivu, Ribeiro and whoever else Ryder played with) and -8 to Ryder's 23 goals and -4.

That salary difference is another player and a good one at that, Montreal would be better to add a player and keep both of your mentioned tradable players for Bertuzzi.

This trade makes no sense at all because we don't address any need on the team, sure we need Bertuzzi but we need to keep Ryder and we can't trade Souray when our D is worse off than the Canucks!

If Gainey did something like this he would have to be drunk or stupid.

Bertuzzi would be a good addition , but you forgot that he's UFA at the end of the season . So , giving Ryder is paying a lot for a player that you are not sure to resign , after 3-4 months.

I would do it with Zednik in the place of Ryder .

May be conditional draft choice can be add , if we resign Bert

The thing is by adding such a player in Bertuzzi we have all of these goal scoring wingers like Bert, Ryder and Kovalev with no real set up men...we are putting this wingers in a position to fail.

Sure we have Koivu, but we need another legit 1st to 2nd line centre too to make such a scenario work.

Go post this trade on the nucks board to see if they are going to be as excited, I can bet (tocchet style ) they won't. I am also confident Bert can fetch more from another team.

So, you think he'd get a return similar to what Boston got for Thornton .... not likely.

Suspension killed Bertuzzi, actually that hit he did killed him, hasn't been the same guy since... too tentative...

He's got one more year after this one.
