Looks like Friday will be the first time I watch an Avs game since January. Jost is a beauty.

Why not just play him in the AHL? Keep him away from this toxic team for now.

What are the chances he plays in the NHL full time next season? I hope he stays another year in College, but if he can play in show, why not?

All the talk of sending him away to play somewhere else doesn't hold water. For one, the longer we keep our elite young talent elsewhere, the longer we'll be a dumpster fire. Furthermore, bringing a hotshot young talent into the fold will maybe bring a few fans back to watch the games. That's worth a lot to the business side of the franchise. Give the fans SOMETHING to cheer for, lord knows we need it.

The fact that he's joining the Avs now makes it a stronger bet plus nobody even knows if definitively he can even play in the AHL next year. So I'll say that's the plan.

I agree. He'll do fine in the NHL next year as a rookie if they give him the same opportunities they gave Rantanen. It's not like we'll have anybody better to run with.

Does this burn a year of his ELC if he plays out the year here?

I dont think so. Not enough games. He will get his signing bonus now. Curious if they have any other bonuses written into playing this year. Like Keller got a 5 games played bonus lol

He can't play in the AHL next year. If he doesn't make the Avs their option would be to send him to the WHL to play with the Regina Pats - who are actually hosting the Memorial Cup. That might be good development for him to play 20+ mins a game and tear up the WHL with Sam Steel.

I can see him being named captain in 2-3 years. I think Landeskog will be traded, but I hope not.

I'll give the team some credit and say they do but nobody here does for sure.

Put Dan Weiss in the group that says he can play in the AHL next season.

Is this as shocking as I think it is? I would have been surprised to see him game 1 next season. He can still go AHL next year and slide if need be, right?

I think it can slide this year, but not next. As for the AHL, the jury is still out. Just being drafted by a CHL team as a hail mary shouldn't prevent you from playing in the AHL unless you actually play a CHL game, IMO, but nobody seems to agree there.
