That's not the reason, CHL teams can draft whoever they want. It's that the BCHL, which is part of the CJHL (Canadian Junior A) is considered CHL.

I actually think it could slide next year, it would be his 19 year old season. But to not even play 9 games in the NHL next season would be a surprise.

He's playing on Friday?! Well, I hope he's not being rushed, but I'm excited.

Needs to make a call to Uncle Patrice breezeby for the honors. Rendulic neglected to call Patrice and thus Rendulic is off the team.

Not good. He's going to be infected by the virus that is the current team.

And I didn't think they'd find a way to get me to the Pepsi Center one last time this season.

I wish he stayed too. This team needed another tank year, but instead we will get a playoff tease and miss out on the impact player we need.

Glad he's signed, not happy that he'll be playing this season. Keep him away from this toxic dumpster fire. Dump Duchene and Landeskog, and let those FA's expire and then bring him in next season.

That last call-up should've gone to Greer or Bigras if he's healthy again.

I sent a question to #AskBob about Jost's AHL status. I would hope if any of you have time, do the same. McKenzie reviews fan questions at the end of the nightly rivalry game.

Probably isn't that good of a reason. Jost was being out-muscled by 21 and 22 year old college guys.

Think about what 29 year old NHLers will do to him. Not in terms of physical damage, but preventing him from being effective. Keller has been pretty much useless as well due to physical limitations.

Give the fans SOMETHING to cheer for, lord knows we need it.
I agree and disagree. Elite talent elsewhere like the sending him to the AHL next season would be a good idea if he's not NHL ready. Plus that team should be F5'd next season. Every player is on a different development path, we shouldn't put players like Bigras, Meloche, or Greer (randomly picking names) in the NHL just because the Avs organization see them as future NHL players. "X" player should be in the NHL once he has shown that he's ready to handle it. If Avs draft Hischier in June and he isn't ready for the NHL, send him to the AHL or Suisse. If Avs draft Vilardi who needs time in the OHL to improve his skating, while Avs second round pick makes a Ryan O'Reilly impact, then Gabriel goes back to OHL while 2nd round player plays in the NHL.

And the fan issue is not that concerning since Avs still have a 82% attendance and are still beating the Nuggets on TV (who are 29th in attendance). Even with this Godawful season, now that might change next season where trading someone like Duchene could cause a riff in the casual fan department. But as of now, I doubt any single Avs fan will buy tickets to one of the future games just because of "Jost". He isn't a popular name.

No he won't, MacKinnon has a better chance of becoming Captain over him in the next 2-3 years.

Honestly now, will 8-9 games will mess up his development by rushing him? I have a hard time believing so since what happened to Rantanen, etc. If he's not ready next season, he can be sent down to Regina Pats or even the AHL if he's eligible.

If nothing else, this will give him a good idea of the speed of the NHL and serve as an eye-opener for the kid. That'll help him prepare for next year.

Jost could always pull a Ray Bourque and unveil a "1717" jersey, becoming the first player in history to break the double-digit glass ceiling.

You should be more worried about what he'll see/hear from the current players in the locker room than anything that could happen on the ice.

I'm not worried about that to be honest. Hasn't turned Lindholm or Zadorov or Rantanen or Compher, etc into zombies so I doubt it will with a driven kid like Jost.

Can't fault Sakic for doing what he did, but at this point the team is in such turmoil. I'd wish he played a extra year to lead North Dakota and wait until we see all management/core player changes before we expose our promising prospect to this toxic team.
