I follow soccer as fanatical as I do hockey. We love it by default. I've also played my whole life. My parents are from Molise. Torino is home to my favorite soccer club since I was a kid..Juventus.

As for the homo comments.........try playing it, than talk to me. If you want to talk about homos.........look no further than baseball. i'd rather go to an insurance seminar..watch Gandhi over and over...and go outside and watch the grass grow. soccer is very similar to hockey.

That Ferrari F1 car was the best thing about the opening ceremony.

Some good downhill footage tonight though.

I'm Irish and German myself, and we love it by default as well. Life long player myself, but never played past high school, wasn't violent enough for me. Football and hockey from then on. Only get to play soccer on the weekends.

I did play soccer when I was younger.......not enough scoring to enjoy as a spectator sport for me though.

BTW...the homo remark was just a joke.

I didn't like Peter Gabriel's version of "Imagine" ... but other than that, pretty cool opening ceremony. I especially like the part where those people impersonate the skier or whatever that was.

I liked the "dove" that looked more like an eagle (or was it an osprey?). Nothing says "peace" like a big ol' bird of prey

I'm watching the Sweden v. Russia Women's game right now...I forgot just how much room there is between the nets and the end boards on the International ice sheet. Its like a friggin' parking lot back there!

Watching the USA Women's game vs. Suisse...one of the first things that comes to mind is that I wish certain Kings forwards skated as well as the USA forwards do!!

Maybe the Kings should start drafting some females for the team. I am sure a few of them are bigger than alot of the Kings current players.

Can we draft the Swiss goaltender? She's awesome...plays at Minnesota-Duluth. I won't give away any score here but suffice it say that the USA should be ahead by about 6 goals. Plays a bit deep in the net but has excellent positiong and reflexes.

Another thing that I noticed...just can't quite put my finger on the reason for it...but the USA Women are a hell of a lot cuter than the Kings players...

That was not what I meant. Some would say the reason females can't play in the NHL is because they are too small. I was pointing out that a few of them would be bigger than guys that are already on the Kings roster.

Would they do locker room interviews if they played for the Kings?

I could get into that.

Give me some credit!! I know what you meant and I'd love us to have a forward corps all 6ft.+ as well as being excellent skaters. However, I'm just pointing out that bigger forwards aren't necessarily better if they can't skate and keep up in the "new" NHL.

Sorry, I didn't meant to hijack this Olympic thread and turn it into another Kings thread...

Maybe after the Olympic break...I do have a few extra tickets to some games in March. Don't expect me to buy your plane fare though!
