Hopefully the Loafs play the Caps and lose badly.

Yup this. Hanging with friends who are leaf fans watching this game i watched their ups and downs and remebered how fun meaningful hockey is. I actually feel depressed being a Sabres fan for the first time in my life.

I still can't believe the lucked in Matthews. I mean I can, because Toronto, but we aren't having this conversation without that bit of luck.

49 weeks ago tonight. The night they won the 1st overall pick. I was despondent because I knew Matthews would tie their lineup together perfectly, slotting Kadri and Bozak into appropriate roles.

That's an 85-point team, tops, if they get anything but the #1 overall pick. ****.

Love reading these overreactions. The leafs played well this year, but they are not a playoff caliber team right now (I get they are in the playoffs) and will be disposed off quite easily in the first round. Where they are now is were we should be next year. Are rebuild is on track and people are exploding because we were fringe. Toronto and Buffalo will be battling for a playoff spot next year and it will be highly entertaining. Relax and enjoy the offseason, even though it started a few weeks ago

Sorry but we are definitely not on track where we should be, this season was a step back there's no way around it. The leafs won't be disposed easily, they could very well beat Ottawa if they play them. They are absolutely a playoffs caliber team. You are either incredibly biased or naive to think we are on the same track as they are.

More like Toronto will be battling for the division and Buffalo will be battling to reach 80 points again. We're about 6 players away from even coming close to contending.

No--not just 3-4 years. They have had high picks for years-they traded some for players but they have had the rights to high picks the last ten years or more. They did get the best out of the positions they drafted in recently though--for darn sure.

I think back to the people that actually said they wanted the Leafs to get McDavid if we didn't to re create "the rivalry", and start laughing. Probably the same people who can't handle Toronto winning right now.

I don't really care what Eichel did over the past 20 games. Watch him and then watch Matthews. You may notice Eichel every shift but Matthews is just the superior player at everything but speed. He just looks like a winner out there and he plays so efficient. He had a bad stretch in the middle of the season but his shoulders never sagged. Eichel turns into a slinky if he has one bad period. There's such a huge gap between their respective professionalism on the ice and from the sounds of it maybe off the ice too.

That's not the difference between the two teams. It's what's around those two franchise players. We don't have a Mitch Marner or William Nylander producing every night and scoring timely goals like they do.

I don't disagree that Jack needs to grow up though, he's got some entitlement issues.

I worry about our culture. Shanahan has things looking good and watching Toronto you see everyone has bought in. They have first class management and its upsetting because it is better than Buffalo's currently.

We have players constantly complaining in the media, leadership issues, divides within the team, players body language on the ice is negative, and you just don't see that with Toronto.

They must build a positive culture and put the right guys into the organization. It starts at the top.

Dallas blows 2-0 lead. Now tied with Avs at 2 halfway thru 3rd.

Dallas is really going to blow a 2-goal lead at home to the worst team in the NHL and not even get a point, aren't they?

Yes, it's going to happen...does them getting one even matter?

Dunno what the tiebreaker would be. ROW would be same if Buffalo loses tomorrow.

That's what some posters seem to be missing...Toronto went out and got a legendary GM in Lou. Then went out and got the brightest young hockey mind in the league in Dubas. They then went out and some how lured Hunter to run their scouting department, they then topped it off with the best coach in hockey.

We have a President with zero hockey experience, a rookie GM with a somewhat questionable track record, and Bylsma.

I mean we're not the panthers, but it's not exactly the most inspiring front office in hockey.

They've got one, so they've tied us at 78 pending the OT result. By virtue of Dallas having more ROWs, we'd draft 7th as of now.

Klingberg scores, Dallas wins. 79 points for Dallas. As long as we don't win tomorrow, we won't pass them.
