Just saw this on SC as I was making dinner. Good for him. Can't remember which reporter it was who broke the news, but he sounded surprised. Has TSN forgotten where Scheifele ranks in league scoring this season..?

I'd expect Laine gets asked to play-- does Denmark have a team as well?

Yes, and iirc reading the thread for their team on here Ehlers has confirmed he's going.

Edit :

I think that tells PHILIP LARSEN not. He does not have a contract.

Oliver Bjorkstrand, Mikkel Bødker, Jannik Hansen, Lars Eller, Nicklas Jensen, Patrick Russell, Patrick Bjorkstrand will play playoff NHL/AHL...

Stuart for team USA? Maurice says he is really consistent..

Morrissey for 6/7 role, Trouba, Laine, Ehlers if Denmark is in.

I don't know how deep Finland is but Armia may get a look on the 4th line/extra forward.

Enstrom never wants to play for Sweden. He lacks heart.

If 55 played for the Leafs he would be a legend

Hasn't he been on the outs with Team Sweden for a while?

No worries. You win more without him.

I really hope Laine takes a pass this year. He needs to take a well deserved rest.

No time to rest between May and September? World Championships are very important to European players. Very unlikely Laine doesn't represent his country.

Would think Scheifele, Laine, Ehlers, Trouba, and Dano will play at the Worlds.

Wonder if Connor or Roslovic get a look.

It's easy to overlook an 82 point centre

I'd also throw Wheeler in there as well.

Basing it on Wheeler and Buff usually declining the invitation. Talent wise, absolutely.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Wheeler having surgery after the season to fix some lingering issue he's been battling all season.

I wonder if Hellebuyck will play for the U.S.

He will probably let in 5 goals a game.

You may be right. But I'd like to see Wheeler play a key role on the international stage at least once.

The Sun reporter interviewed between periods a couple of games ago was sure that Laine would not go to the WHC, given the busy season he's had. Not sure where he got that idea, but I'm betting he's wrong.

Something tells me a Sun reporter is not the most reliable source.. A healthy Laine declining the invitation would cause an absolute ********* in the Finnish media.

Both Armia and Laine are likely to miss WHC.
