Morrissey for 6/7 role, Trouba, Laine, Ehlers if Denmark is in.

I don't know how deep Finland is but Armia may get a look on the 4th line/extra forward.
If Armia is healthy to play in WHC, he will have a bigger role than 4th line / extra forward, he might be even in the top 6 IMO.

There's Komarov's grinder/surprise scorer's spot open now. Dips for the other Ässät boy.

I was hoping that Laine wouldn't participate this year, but now that NHL is not going to Olympics I'm hoping he will. I can see why he would skip this year, though. His agent has previously given an interview relating to these things, indicating that young players need to have enough time for practice to develop.

Strictly speculative, but I think a lot depends on whether Barkov can participate.

And with his back issues that's a 99% no.

As much as I'd like to see Team Finland give Maurice a lesson on how to utilize Laine's shot on PP, I hope he passes. An injury-free, long off-season is exactly what he needs now and I think that should not be risked.

It's the last year he can go before being all tied up to the SC playoffs all the time.

And anyway if S and E gets to go, but L doesn't, you can aswell rename the team Ottawa Jets, you Canadian shenaniganists. Matthews' gonna go and sure would like to get that MVP.

I could see why Laine would go ...... Very tough to say no to your country ..... but if he passes that may be best for his body.... He is still 18 and the rest / training will really help him out for next season. But I would be surprised if he did not go??

Hello here from Czech Republic. This is quite surprising, but Jan Kostalek from Moose was invited to national team training camp. He will have to battle hard for spot. If he makes it, it will be the most shocking nomination in recent cz hockey history.

Wasn't Connor & his college line there last year?

If he was good enough then, he's good enough now

Even if that means i dont see him at the worlds.

If that would result in a ********* in the finnish media the screw them.

I wonder if Hellebuyck will play for the U.S.

It would be terrific if he did and had a great tourney.

I wonder will have most players representing their nations teams this year around.

I predict Telegin will once again dominate and make a few of us ask once again "When does his contract expire? Will he ever play with the Jets?"

He will probably let in 5 goals a game.
Just like he did in 2015?

I think it comes down to whether he listens to his heart (in which case he goes) or his brain (in which case he doesn't)

During the last 1,5 year he has played insane amount of hockey for a teenager:
-The junior world championships
-Regular season games in the Finnish league
-Finnish league playoffs
-World championships
... followed by knee operation, summer training and then all the draft activities and camp
And then
-World cup of hockey
-Almost full season of NHL hockey.. missing those few games due concussion

Laine himself said in the Finnish media said that he feels (a bit of) tired and doesn't know if he is going to world championships.

While I normally like to see best Finnish players there I really think Laine should not go this time.

It won't be long before he starts again his hard summer training program (with fellow Finns Ristolainen and Rantanen) so he would/will only get a few weeks of rest. And I think he really needs and deserves it.

After a few weeks of rest and with a full length summer training program he can gain so much speed/strengthwise at his age that I can't wait to see the results in October
