What's with the no-trade clauses?

Good price. He probably would have gotten 4.75-5.0 on the open market.

I love it, for so many reasons. Among them, it's for 5 years, and he just drove up the price for Redden and Chara.

I would have thought he'd get more if he'd tested UFA status.

Drove up? Pretty sure they were both going to get more than that. This might help, Kaberle is somewhat comparable to Redden.

LMFAO. Hardly. Let me guess, McCabe would get the max on the open market.
Overpayment by 750k.

I personally thought he would get $5M on the UFA market.. I'm very happy with the signing.

I guess I have to hope that Kim Johnsson's injury plagued season drives down his price because I saw him as a pretty similar player to Kaberle (always thought Johnsson was better, but not a debate for now). I don't really want to see the Flyers give Kim more than 3.5 per, but maybe they'll have to match what Kaberle got.

i think that sets the bar for d-man market..
brewer morris jovo redden = 3.5-4.5 mil /year
chara = 5 mil/year..

More like. . . Redden and Chara = close to or just over 6.0/year

Brewer, Morris, Jovo, etc = 3.75-4.5/year

McCabe will set the tone for Jovonovsky, Redden, and Chara - not Kaberle. (If he signs first, that is.)

If Kaberle goes for 4.25 million, then you can expect McCabe to be near the 5-5.25 million mark. And If McCabe is at the 5 million mark, I don't even want to know what teams offer Chara.

i honestly don't consider redden to be better than brewer jovo or morris.. but that's debatable.. and i know if i can sign brewer for 1.5-2 mil less than redden.. i'd take brewer any day..

Ask Blues, Canucks and Coyotes fans who they prefer, Redden or their respective #1 defensemen.

4 millionish sounds about right for a #2 defenseman. My guess is he is banking that 3 or 4 years from now the cap will be higher and then Kaberle will be underpriced.

Or they can just decide that JFJ was being an idiot and let him carry on overpaying his players.

Kaberle is worth $2.5 - $3 million.

Ferguson is an idiot and he is going to be in a world of cap trouble.
