We just aren't as good as we should be. I mean if you look at the rosters in the West of the teams that are ahead of us, I'd only take the Oil (because of the future, not the present), the Ducks (deep as hell, and solid young pieces) and MAYBE the Hawks (because of the winning core). But we shouldn't have never been as low seed as we are.

But as for the series, anything can happen, we're obviously huge underdogs and it requires a little miracle for us to win. Or Rinne playing lights out.

My eyes are on Forsberg, who wasn't good in the playoffs last year, Smith he has to prove his worth and be better than last year and on Subban, as he is so hyped especially in the spring so I'm eager to see next level.

The Hawks have a lot of rookies and young players in their offense, and it'll be interesting to see how they fare in the postseason. Their 4th line is pretty abysmal.

Their defense is solid because of the top-3 but after that it falls off a cliff. So could be something there. We also chased Crawford 2 years ago, although Darling is really good aswell.

The Hawks dropped out in the 1st round last year, so I don't see why we couldn't beat them. It's unlikely, but not to even give us a chance is ridiculous.

Bitteto's turnover and Ellis' terrible pinch on that PP prevented the Preds from facing a Fowler-less Ducks team. They could have picked up momentum and gone on a huge run, instead they're looking at facing the top team in the NHL. Hawks in 6.

Please do us all a favor and utterly destroy the Hawks in this series. Between the Hawks and the Penguins, not sure which "bandwagon/die hard since 2008" fan-base I can stand the least.

Here's what I'm hanging my hope on:

Playoff Neal.
Playoff Willy.
Playoff Subban.

Anyone else I'm missing that elevates their game come pkayoffs?

Regardless, I'm about 99% confident this team will be ready to play come time. Our lazy performances will be no more.

The question is, will Chicago out talent us?

It's a good thing Josi will be in and playing with Ellis instead of Bitteto then, eh?

You put way too much stock in one end-of-year game with regard to momentum. Beating the damn Jets wouldn't have made it any more likely that the Preds went on a huge run than losing to them.

We go out 5 games. They have the mental edge. Towes will keep them focused. And they will get the benefit of the doubt from the refs. The collapses against Buffalo and NJ cost us the WC1. Now we get to pay for those blunders.

Depends on which team shows up whether we will win or not. Let's hope playoff team shows up.

Playoff Arvy would be nice too. For perspective:

Playoff Subban. .69 points per playoff game.
Playoff Neal. .65 points per playoff game
Playoff Willy .61 Points per playoff game.
Playoff Ryan .57

Also seeing Arvy and Salomaki skate Hawks to death.

Are there any injuries or is your starting lineup healthy and ready to go Game#1?

I think there were only some nagging injuries to some players who have been rested for a couple/few games. Everyone should be ready to go.

I feel like we haven't won in Chicago forever, which doesn't bode well for this series.

The basic formula for success against any team beginning with home ice advantage is always simple. Steal one of these two games in Chicago and come back home in a best of 5 series with home ice advantage. Can we do it? Absolutely. Will we? Dont know. The talent is here if several guys play well down in the lineup, the PP finds itself, the PK plays well and rinne makes the saves he should make. Of course thats obvious

its really simple. If the team that beat Washington, Minnesota, and San jose in the last three weeks shows up, we can and probably will win.

But if the team that lost to Carolina, Boston and Toronto shows up, we will be soundly beaten

here's hoping Subban's "extra gear' he supposedly has in the playoffs isn't stripped this season...

I'm still waiting for Rinne to have that series we all remember ...

Forsberg should be better this year.

Will Wilson and Fisher be as incredible?

I agree with him though he is sick of the pick a Winner fans. Everyone is suddenly a Cubs, Warriors, Hawks or Pens fan. Detroit had those back in the day but they jumped to the newest flavor. At least he's Bandwagon for a huge underdog, not some "newly crowned Champions" . It's not like the fans I know that are Bama football fans and Kentucky Basketball fans.

I agree - I think this could the time for Rinne to get one of those runs where he elevates and brings this team a Cup ala Quick for LA a few years ago.

But honestly I'm feeling a fairly quiet exit by the Preds, like in 5.
