Jets Starting Lineup 2017-18

Forwards:

Line one: EHLERS - SCHEIFELE - LAINE
Line Two: CONNOR - LITTLE - WHEELER
Line Three: PERREAULT - LOWRY - ARMIA
Line Four: PETAN - COPP -ROSLOVIC

Defence:

1st Pair: MORRISSEY - TROUBA
2nd pair: ENSTROM - BYFUGLIEN
3rd pair: *(Chevy Acquisition)* - MYERS
extra: POOLMAN

Goal:

HELLEBUYCK
*(Chevy Acquisition)*

-----
i am assuming that Throburn, Pavelec, and Stuart are either off the team, or relegated to the press box. Dano will likely go to Vegas, and Tanev will go elsewhere. The main thing we obviously need is a reliable veteran goalie, to challenge Helle in the starting position. We will likely need a 3rd pairing D-man as well. We can also deal Matthias in a trade with Tanev for a 3rd pairing D-man or a veteran goalie.

Poolman won't be on Jets to sit in press box. He'll be third pair or Moose.

I just hope we try our ESL at the start of the season. If it does not work them **** it, do something else.

Good God, I hope Stuart is not on the Jets next year.

My wish for the offseason is to see Sami Niku on the Moose.

I... don't think that Chiarot is a bad third pairing defenseman. He's actually been surprisingly good this season and in a smaller role I wouldn't mind seeing him. If anything, it's Enström I'd dump, not him.

This, although I'd want something more from Vegas for all of that.

Eventually I think we'll see Laine/Scheifele/Ehlers, but I think starting next year with Ehlers/Scheif/Wheeler is good thing too.

Yeah I am thinking they get a goalie back from Vegas as part of that package. I should have clarified.

Ehlers/Scheif/Connor - I think Connor and Ehler's ability to make plays at tops speeds will make them a perfect wing match

Laine/Little/Wheeler - Defacto 1B line

Perreault/Roslovic/Petan - All three can play the center position, strong support for Roslovic to intergrate into the NHL at the C spot, strong skilled 3rd line

Mathias/Lowry/Armia - Why go away from what worked so well, this is a strong strong 4rth line on any NHL team.

Morrissey/Trouba - a true top pairing, possibly top 5 in NHL in the next couple of seaosns.

Enstrom/Buff - Great second pairing

Poolman/Myers - Twin towers

Helly/Carey Price or someone close to that.

With that much inexperience in key roles those lineups look like another nice high draft pick, yet the fan base seems to think it playoffs or bust ... should be fun here next year.

He's basically looked at as Stu 2.0 because of his bad corsi. But he was our best PK defenseman this year in goals and shots and he takes way less stupid risks than Stuart will. Play him with Buff and they are a fine pairing.

I'm a happy camper if the goalie is Raata or Grubauer.

We started this year off with 5 rookies and managed to improve over last season by 5 wins. We probably start next season with 3 more rookies, but I expect an improvement of 3 to 5 more wins next season.

Maurice said he only expected 1 or 2 in his presser so it is my expectation that they will start moving away from integrating youth unless they are clearly ready.

Wow so we'll be out of it on Jan 28 instead of xmas ?

I am all for this youth movement should have been done a long time ago instead of trying to get that sad sack Atl core to the playoffs. But the expectations are way out line there will be price to pay for having this young of a roster and that price is loses.

I think Kyle Connor makes the team but Roslovic doesn't . I think Connor will be the only rookie.

Agreed. I think they will give Poolman a long look as well but I don't expect any other 1st year players cracking the opening lineup.

Go with the top 9 in last game of year. Add 1 goalie with no more then 2 years on contract maf howard. Also add 2 players on 4h line to go with mathias and copp that can pk.

If the Jets sign Sutter, sign a high-end goalie, a solid LHD (De Haan, Smith, Alzner type) and a playoff experienced depth forward, there is no way that team doesn't make the playoffs.

What I think could happen:

Jets trade Petan, Stuart (or Melchiori), and a 2017 2nd round pick, to LV for De Haan (after they pick him in expansion)

A condition with the trade is LV takes Dano and not Myers.

Jets sign an experienced depth UFA winger for the 3rd or 4th line on a short-term deal, to whoever will come here. (D. King, J. Williams, Vanek, Iginla, Stafford?)

If Sutter was the coach, Williams might want to come here based on their history. If he doesn't, put Armia on the 3rd and the new forward on the 4th line.

We would have the cap room to make these signings as well. In the ballpark of Raanta 1M (or Grubauer around 2 x 3M), De Haan 5 x 4.5M, Williams 2 x 3.5M.

If Raanta meets expectations extend him the year after next and trade Helly or Comrie.

With this approach, we get to keep our 1st round pick as well.

Our lineup for next year:

Ehlers - Scheif - Laine
Connor - Little - Wheeler
MP - Lowry - J. Williams
Matthias - Copp - Armia
Tanev

Morrissey - Trouba
De Haan - Buff
Enstrom - Myers
Poolman
Nogier

Raanta/Grubauer
Helly

To me, that roster is a cup contending team providing Raanta/Grubauer meet expectations and I don't think these moves are unrealistic (maybe Sutter coming here).

How so? We started this season out with 5 rookies, and saw a solid improvement over the previous season. If we add a couple of more, you expect worse results?

Add to it, the fact that Ehlers, Laine, Morrissey, Petan and Helly should all show improvements as they continue to develop, to think we are worse next season, or not capable of improving, seems out to lunch to me.

Are you predicting or wishing?

Those 2 won't get an upgrade on Chiarot.

JMO but I think if Roslo makes the team he is at C somewhere. Otherwise he continues to develop his C skills in the A.
Connor might well push MP down at some point but I don't think he starts the season on 2nd line - unless he is on fire during pre-season.

A mix of predict and wish, :
Line one: EHLERS - SCHEIFELE - LAINE
Line Two: Perreault - LITTLE - WHEELER
Line Three: Connor - LOWRY - ARMIA
Line Four: PETAN - COPP -Matthias

Defence:
1st Pair: MORRISSEY - TROUBA
2nd pair: Acquisition - BYFUGLIEN
3rd pair: Enstrom - MYERS
extra: Chiarot

Goal:
Acquisition
HELLEBUYCK
