I think this first game will answer a lot of questions.
Take it 10 minutes at a time. Win those first 10 then go after the next.

We aren't scoring more than two goals tonight. Just a matter if the defense and Bob are up to the task of preventing more than one goal

This game is huge, because I want Fleury in there. Get 4 or 5 tonite to get Murray out of there and take our chances. Murray KILLED the Sharks last year...don't want to see that version again.

Don't understand the Carlsson move, if true. Kyle Quincey is awful and should be the one sitting.

He's had better days but we need his experience.

I'll trade in his "experience" for someone who isn't a possession black hole, which is literally anyone else on the roster.

I honestly think it might be a size thing with Nuti. They'll only play 10 minutes each anyways.

Edit: I also get the sense that the FO expects Jack to be taken in the expansion draft, and are trying to see if Carlsson is ready to take on a similar role.

There's going to be so many better defenders available I doubt JJ gets picked.

First time I've felt like we have a chance to advance to the second round in a series, but I'm remaining guarded. We aren't getting a lot of credit from the Penguins fans, which I actually kind of like.

or we get swept and the whole year will feel pointless. shrug

I feel confident they will take one of these first two games. A loss tonight is upsetting but not the end of the world. But win anyway please.

Sounds like 3rd pairing is going to be Carlsson and Harrington

About as favorable a reffing situation for CBJ as possible. St. Laurent and Pollock only award an average of 2.8 power plays per game each, which is tied for 3rd fewest average power plays per game allowed for all NHL officials.

Hopefully they keep their whistles in their pockets and allow the 5on5 play. CBJ certainly would be better off 5on5 than getting into a special teams battle.

I approve, and I'm kind of surprised, and I'm a little scared because we didn't see them before. But those two were the best D lately. It makes sense.

According to Bobby Mac, Carlsson is going to play on the third pairing with Harrington

Interesting. Without his safety net (Murray) maybe they don't trust Nuti? And maybe they think they'll get enough offense from the top 4 that rolling the dice with Nuti isn't worth it.

I don't think you experiment with finding a JJ replacement in the playoffs. That is what the pre-season is for.
