I figured you guys would be very interested in him. I hope we can get him.
I like him a lot, he's a hard player not to like, all things considered. Such a good wrist shot and like you said, very young for this year. Definitely a candidate to lead the W in goals next year.

Not even just goals but maybe points too if everything works out. I could absolutely see him having a Sam Steel type breakout next season. Especially if Ty Smith has a dominant draft year.

Really enjoying these. As big of a fan I am of Anderson-Dolan I never knew he had two moms. Heartwarming to see how proud he is of them. Explains why he's such a great guy on and off the ice.

Interesting paper relevant to prospects like Chytil and JAD. Apparently selection bias due to age is quite real in the NHL draft, with those prospects born in the third quarter (e.g.: Chytil and JAD) on average going on to have much more productive and longer careers.

The age effect is real. If you have a super young prospect who's doing very well against his much older colleagues, much less against pros it needs to be given weight. You would need to do a different regression than these guys did to come up with a weight but I wouldn't be surprised if JAD and Chytil would get quite a boost.

**** it, let's draft Chytil and JAD.

Fine by me, let's trade up a bit, get an additional second rounder and draft both. That would take care of our center depth .

I dont have a problem with him. Not just my guy for the 1st round but I would consider him maybe the steal of the draft if he could drop to us in 2nd round. He gets a hell of a wristler, one of the best in the corp and generally made his point by himself. He wasnt with Yamamoto for the majority of the year. Than, a scout should recommand Kailer before JAD for obvious reasons. Hes a boom or bust prototype and I think his upside is higher than people think, even better than a Lind but Lind has more chances to become a pick valuable . Wasting a 2nd for a natural center like him, but a 1st, not for me!

JAD and Yamamoto played together quite a bit, they had a nice line with Elynuik-JAD-Kailer for a while. Their PP1 was almost always some form of that line along with Ty Smith, who should be a high 1st next year

Alexandre Téxier is even younger than JAD. I did not know that.

There's some decision theory in the Carey Price thread, if you're interested

I'm curious about past misses.

Why did so many teams pass on Ryan O'Reilly in 2009?
Brandon Saad in 2011?
Brandon Montour in 2014?

O'Rielly? I think teams were a little worried about his skating, his junior production wasn't super great. Don't think his offense really showed until he made the NHL.

Brandon Saad had question marks about hockey sense and intensity.

Montour, he's a skilled defenseman with a suspect defense game. Those guys generally go in the second round.

Montour was a draft eligible in 2012. Nobody realy scouted GOJHL.... He has started to play in USHL two years laters... Nobody realy cares about USHL prospects 2 years after being eligible to NHL draft. I remember me thinking "What the hell the Ducks are just did" when they picked Montour. I still think he could be picked a way after 2nd round but probably another teams was high on him too and they dont risked it.

When we think about offer sheets, even I dont like it... Montour is my number one guy, the only guy I could see with Weber actualy

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
The teams that did not qualify for the playoffs the previous season (picks 1–15)
The teams that made the playoffs in the previous season but did not win either their division in the regular season or play in the Conference Finals (picks 16–23 up to 27)
The teams that won their divisions in the previous season but did not play in the Conference Finals (potentially picks 25-27)
The teams that lose in Conference Finals (picks 28 and 29)
The team that was the runner-up in the Stanley Cup Finals (pick 30)
The team that won the Stanley Cup in the previous season (pick 31)
So, cup winner and finalist is 30-31 no matter who wins. WCF and ECF losers pick 28-29.

Division winners pick potentially 24-27. This year, since a division winner is in the WCF, division winners pick 24-27 based on points:
27 - WSH
26 - CHI
25 - MTL

Had Edmonton beat Anaheim, we would have picked 24th.

I had a dream last night that we didn't draft a single center with our top 4 picks. We got: Hague (D), Gadjovich (LW), Brook (D) and Entwistle (RW). I need better dreams.

Yeah, Hague would be the worst.

My picks

1st....Robertson
2nd...Gadjovich
3rd....True

if we could trade up in the top 10, I'd like either Rasmussen or Vilardi
