Cliffs notes version is that Bonderman was forced to resign from the Uber BoD last night after he was caught making comments towards a female board member - Arianna Huffington (Huff Post political website founder) no less - in which he suggested women talk too much. The comment, made during the big Uber meeting yesterday concerning allegations of sexual harassment in the workplace - the one that also resulted in their CEO leaving temporarily - was seen as sexist in nature, and the optics of it do not look good for him w/the Oak View bid, especially in light of what happened last year following the initial Council vote on SoDo street vacation. To recap that, some fans hurtled insults towards the five female councilors who all voted no on the initial Hansen street vacation request, and that caused a firestorm of criticism to be launched towards everyone supporting the SoDo bid.

My thought about the comment is that it was stupid, and it's not a good look for OVG at the moment. Things like this, in this political environment here in Seattle, will matter, and apparently, all five of the female councilmembers (Sawant, Herbold, Juarez, Gonzalez and Bagshaw) have been made aware of this story, so it'll be interesting to see how they respond.

Woke up to see this on CNBC this morning. Regardless of intention, that was just a dumb thing to say. Especially given the very nature that the meeting taking place was about.

Wondering if there's anything out there from Ms. Huffington regarding his apology

Edit/add: Found one

eh i doubt SCC will suddenly declare no no no on OVG cause of this and then have to start over on the whole key arena issue.

Its good that the person resigned and apologized.

That's really incredible on the Mayor's part of that interview. Not only does he downplay SODO, but is quite confident that the NHL will be ready soon. He's downright confident and happy on both aspects.

Looks like the bonderman issue is blowing over in Seattle. Both the mayor and OVG have released statements.

Also chris Daniels joined us tonight on the sin bin to talk
NHL to seattle and Hansen

In the Sodo arena front, tonight should be a good lesson on how traffic at the stadiums could impact the port and city since the Sounders and Mariners both play tonight at home. Expect ~50K fans between the two venues. Port has complained about all the traffic of the new arena and extra & overlapping events that would affect their ability to operate.

Don't know how SoDo would really make that much of an impact.

This seems like a good way to find out what a couple of events three times the size of a SoDo event will impact traffic.

As I think we've mentioned here, it'll be at least the fall before they bring up street vacation, and December before they address KeyArena. And that is if there's not too much upheaval in both the mayor's office and the council following the election.

Speaking of which, there is now talk, now that the lawsuit against him has been temporarily shelved, that ol' Ed might make a run for mayor via write-in votes.....we'll see where that goes.

Murray is not going to win in as a write in.

I'd doubt that too but if you've seen some of the latest polling, it suggests that if he were to do it, he'd at least be formidable. We'll see.

One of the top issues that has been brought up against the Sodo site is the increase of traffic and risk to the port operations.

I went to the soccer game last night. Most of my traffic though was getting through North Seattle through downtown. It eased up in Sodo. Yes there was congestion but there's always congestion on game-days. Just the fact there could be more events leads to potentially some delays at the port operations.
