Eichel creates a crazy amount of offense and I think he's going to put up more points over his career, but Matthews' considerable edge in his two-way game makes me lean towards him.

Mathews. 40 goal centers are extremely rare, much less doing it in a draft+1 year.

But I also think Eichel has been really disrespected around here since the WCH

Just out of curiosity why would you predict jack will score more? Auston has outscored him at every level. Like all the time.

I dont think i mentioned goalscoring in my post...if anything i hinted at matthews goalscoring...

If you want playmaker on the team you take matthews to pair them with (so they feed him passes)

If more mixed scorers and playmakers you take eichel to pair them up with.

I was talking about what wingers you want around them.

Sorry english is not my primary language so it can be hard putting the sentences correctly

The gap in two way play is too immense between the two. Auston without thinking twice.

Matthews easily but Eichel is still going to be an elite 1C as early as next season.

Auston Matthews has scored the most goals as a rookie since Ovy and as a teen since Lemieux. He is the first player in 20 years to be a first overall on a last place team and lead the team in scoring. Crosby and toews laud his mature complete game.

If eichel was a leaf and Matthews was anyone but......

How would this go?

I've noticed in these threads Pens fans are almost as committed to Eichel as Sabres fans, they seem to understand what he's doing in Dan's system is pretty amazing. I wonder why?

Matthews, I don't want a freckle faced primadonna baby crying, I'll take the 6'3 cool calm and collected stud that put up 40 ginos in his first year. Eichel will be good, but he needs to grow up and stop being such a drama queen. It's really not close either, Matthews almost outpaced him in his first year and that's in points, nevermind goals where he essentially cremates him and he has almost as many goals in 1 year as Eichel does in 1 3/4s.

Obviously I would go with Matthews because he wants to be a team leader and isn't one to make sure all the attention is on him, instead he said it should be about the team and winning.

Can you elaborate? I mean the track records speak for themselves. People from the US team said that Jack couldn't carry austons skates to the rink.

What does Crosby etc have to say about eichel?

Not trying to hate because everyone has an opinion but it seems strange that leafs fans say "Matthews has outscored Eichel at every level including draft +1 so him" but then other fans say "Eichel for me". I'm very curious what makes you think Eichel is/will be better because so far everything points to Matthews being the better player.

That's not a slight against jack as I expect he'll be a top 10 scorer as well.

That's not true. IIRC that came out of some media outlet that claimed they talked to a single scout from a Canadian teams' staff that said that with anonymity. Totally ridiculous statement by itself, and it would honestly be pretty absurd for someone from the U.S. hockey program to openly state something like that.

I've just watched more Buffalo games, and Eichel has really impressed me with his creativity and just how dynamic he is on the ince.

I'd go with Eichel, he just controls the pace so much and creates so much offense on his own.

As a Habs fan, I'd rather have Matthews. Not only for his skillset but also for his humble personality. I'm not implying Eichel has attitude issues at all, but I feel like humble leaders make the best captains.
