"Oilers catch a break with Kariya injured"

From TSN Link

Doesn't headlines like this piss Oilers fans off? Especially considering edmonton beat colorado on saturday with Kariya in the line up?

I just saw this and thought TSN were completely dis-respecting the oilers.

Also - is Salo starting tonight?

It would except that if smyth *knock on wood* was injured last game the healines would say the avs caught a break. doesn't predict the outcome of the game, just stating a known fact

Even without Kariya, they have a lot more firepower than us. It is a bit of a break. I don't think you'd find anyone, even here that thinks that Edmonton is favoured to win this one. That's not saying a lot of us aren't blindly optimistic and predicting a win.

More like "Oilers in tough without Smyth"

All other things being equal, the Avs are better with Kariya than without him. Or put another way, Selanne-Sakic-Kariya is a better line than Selanne-Sakic-Konowalchuk. So in that sense, the Oilers are in fact catching a bit of a break.

But still... I could understand if it was the first meeting between the 2, or if Edmonton lost the first (or even if they tied)...

But the Oilers proved that they could skate with the Avs... this headline just totally nullifies that.

I completely agree. If Edmonton's big break occurs when Kariya is out of the line-up.. what was their big break on Saturday?

Some would argue Sauve.
