CGY/StL Proposal

How about this one?

To StL:
1st Rounder '06
Kris Chucko, Eric Nystrom or Matt Pelech

To CGY:
Keith Tkachuk
2nd Rounder '06

Pass. I think if the Flames are going to trade away some future, they should look at gettin a guy they can keep into the fold for at least 2-3 years.

personally i dont think you would get any where near that. i would say a mid range pick and a nystrom would be the max. and i doubt the flames want tkachunk.

I was just thinking that the Flames 1st Round pick will most likely be 30th overall
And St.Louis' 2nd Round pick will be 31st overall.
Therefore, its not as bad as it looks?

Its undeniable that the Flames need someone that can finish.
I think Tkachuk (no matter what you guys think) still has 2 yrs of elite hockey in him, and that he can help CGY's offence a lot.

So why does St.Louis do this?

when he's actually been healthy this season.. he's been a dominant force.. these new rules are perfect for him.. If he stayed healthy all year... he probably could have got 50 goals no problem.. even on this woeful blues team

Tkachuk and Amonte would be awesome.

Good point on the 2nd round pick, it's really not that bad of a trade

What's Kieths $$$ next year?

I'd definately want him. He's scoring over a point a game on the worst team in the league. He might score 30 goals in half a season....pretty good for a fatass

Yeah, what a crappy roster. That fat guy is leading his team to the top of the division, while the crappy Calgary roster is at the bottum of the league. Better then the entire team.

Right?

PS: I would love to have Tkachuk on my team, btw.

The Flames can't fit Tkachuk's salary under the cap, so unless the Blues are willing to eat some of it -- I don't see the Flames acquiring Tkachuk.

It would take some moving, but its possible. Tkachuk only has $2.3 million more on his contract this season. Scratch Weimer and Simon, and that's $800k off, meaning $1.5 million added to salary this season. Sutter has said he has some wiggle room (I'm guessing $1 mill) so maybe he can see some way to fish the extra $500k out of his ***.

If he wants him. For a guy that's obsessed with preperation and professionalism, I'm not sure if Sutter would be interested in Tubby McGoo. But man, would he ever be a power house if the Flames could get him:
Huselius - Lombardi - Iginla
Tkachuk - Langkow - Kobasew
Leclerc - Nilson? - Amonte
McCarty - Yelle - Donovan

The Flames operate on a budget, not on the cap.

Very poor business model to follow to bank your hopes on making money off playoffs.

Rather, I'd just try asking. Darryl Sutter never applied for this job, the job came to him. Owners have said, Darryl is allowed to spend what he thinks will make this team successful... its just Sutter contraining himself to the budget, not the owners. Look up the owners on Calgaryflames.com , I believe 3-4 of the 6 owners place in the top 20 richest men in Canada, with 1-2 of them in the top 10. The total income of these 6 men surpass even the Leafs owners IIRC.

Actually it might be hard to find ANY owner(s) in the whole NHL with the $$$ the Flames owners have...i'm betting top 5 at least!
