He's getting the Umberger treatment. Maybe its a move to convince him to waive the NTC again this summer to use a protection spot for Anderson. That's the only thing I can come up with.
Sedlak gets a taste of playoff hockey, and Hartnell gets a rest.

Forward thinking tells me at this point in his career, Hartnell isn't going to benefit much from the experience of 1 more post season game.

Quincey and Nutivaara should've played in Games 2 and 3. Hartnell hasn't looked the same since colliding with the boards a couple months back. Glad to see there's an actual reason he's out and not just healthy scratch. Excited to see what Sedlak can do.

1. Your condescension doesn't make any sort of point.
2. I never said it was the only problem.

If you'd like to defend his roster decisions on the third pair, that's another thing. Otherwise we probably agree.

Agree with many posters and Aaron Portzline. If we win today it will be because of Bob. If we lose today it will be because of Bob.

This is the first effective coaching we've had since Hitch, so I get annoyed when I hear the term "out coached". PITT imo is playing on a different level than anyone in the post season right now. If we are playing any of the other 14 teams, we win Sunday, and might even be up 2-1. I don't think we have a stand out 5/6 dman, so I'm ok with revolving those roles.

Sullivan said the Pens played their best game in months. THAT'S what it took to win game 3. In OT.

I hate to say this about an elimination game in the playoffs, but if we're in "building for next year" mode, I would seriously think about having Milano draw in for Gagner and letting Sedlak center the fourth line with Milano on one of his wings. Milano wasn't particularly noticeable in Game 3, but he only played ~6 minutes and I didn't see him do anything egregious that screamed "staple him to the bench". I get why Torts did it, but if Gagner is not in our plans going forward (and a lot would depend on how the rest of the room would react to it), I would consider it. Not saying I would do it for sure, but I sure would think long and hard about it.

Hartnell's been a soldier, but he's out of gas. Whether it's Father Time or a nagging injury, who knows, but it's backs against the wall time and sentimentality doesn't have a place in the equation.

I'm expecting an exceptional effort from the Jackets and I wouldn't at all be surprised if they extend the series. While I'm with the crowd and think that it's all over but the shouting, they do have Fleury and we do have a possible Vezina winner. Goaltending is funny stuff and there's nothing that says that Bob can't be Bob again and that Fleury can't be the Fleury of the first 6 minutes of game 3.

While the odds of winning the series are miniscule minus, a mini comeback of sorts (winning the next 2) would do a world of wonder for the outlook of the team and the fanbase.

Yes, except for PK second unit I might use Jones and Q.

Well I can quibble - and have - with certain tactics used by Torts, I agree fully with the bolded comment.

If we want to win tonight Bob has got to show up. Jones is gonna have to be the best player on the ice. I know everyone says Zach is the best player on the team, and he might be, but Jones has to step up and take control of the ice. We've seen it before and we need it now more then ever.

Also NO PENALTIES. If we can win the special teams battle we might stand a chance.

In a fit of anger I had listed my 3 club tickets for tonight and woke up today and cancelled the listing. I'm not ready for hockey to be over yet so I'm holding out hope that Bob will finally show up. Fleury is back to being Fleury last game, if ever there was a chance for a team to come back from 3-0, we can do it with him in net. I like Sedlak, Quincey and Nuti coming back, I think that helps Bob's comfort level and confidence. And Calvert back is a big boost to the PK. So I'm doing the only thing I can, stay positive and hope for the best! I can say we are playing much better than any of the other teams that are down 0-3, or the teams like Wash that are down. So why not us?
