He's a hall of very good player unless he somehow regains his scoring touch in the regular seasons and gets 500 goals.

When you look at just what you posted? No.

Now if he won the Conn Smythe last year and then won a 2nd cup I would say we are close. He definitely would have deserved it too.

He needs something extra to get into the HHOF. Winning a cup and being an elite player your whole career usually doesn't do it unless you have the best rep in the league and Kessel is very far from that (undeservingly imo).

He's got 2 top 10 point finishes and three top 10 goal finishes, however none since he was traded from Toronto. So no, I doubt it'll help him get in.

Well, I'm not saying he's a first ballot candidate, but look at the other upcoming HHOF candidates:

Mark Recchi

Selected to seven NHL All-Star Games: 1991, 1993, 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000
Named the MVP of the 1997 NHL All-Star Game
Named to the 1992 NHL Second All-Star Team
World championship`s gold medalist 1997

Daniel Alfredsson

NHL All-Rookie Team 1996
Calder Memorial Trophy 1996
NHL All-Star Game 1996, 1997, 1998, 2004, 2008 (starter), 2012 (starter)
NHL All-Star 2nd Team 2006
King Clancy Memorial Trophy 2012
Mark Messier Leadership Award 2013[39]

When all is said and done, Kessel will likely have 1-2 other Cups under his belt and 3-4 more All Star game appearances.

He's a dominant offensive force and one of the greatest US born players in the post-cap era.

Lol I think both Recchi and Alfredsson were far more impactful than Kessel. Alfredsson's prime is better than Kessel and Recchi's career will most likely be better than Kessel.

As for the question, no, Kessel will not be even close to making the Hall Of Fame.

Sundin is in the HoF so basically anyone can make it, Kessel puts up consistent numbers, remember defending him as a Leaf using those manipulative arguements like 'he's been a top five point producer over 5 seasons' so he'll get his cute numbers to make a case.

If he was never a Leaf 2 cups would get him in, given he was the scapegoat to an extent for Burke making a bad trade I'd say he needs 3 cups now.

No. He could end up being worthy, but he needs to add more than just a Cup as the 3rd or 4th best forward on his team.

Send a message via ICQ to Kelly
Depends how much longer he keeps putting up points really, I wouldn't call it impossible, just improbable.

Considering he didn't even make the USA world cup roster, HoF sounds like a stretch. Very good player though

I suppose its possible but it'll be awhile. I love me some Phil but there's a pretty good list of players who will, and should, get in before him.

It certainly couldn't hurt, but way too premature to predict this

I imagine his NHLPA membership card will get him in the HOF for free.

Well of course, I dont think we're talking 1st time eligible HOF I think when all is said and done, he'll find away into the HOF. By the time he retires he'll get around or more than 500 goals 1000+ points.

Kessel is actually a significantly better playoff performer than a guy like Hossa who most people want in. So maybe 2 more cups considering Hossa never won anything individually and rode coat tails to multiple cups.
