Eichel is right to do this. He did it privately, never threw Dan under the bus in public. His teammates went to him and had him deliver the message that Bylsma needs to go to the GM. Hfboards knows how bad Bylsma is. If hfboards knows, then Jack and the players can see it. It makes sense, when Jack is watching Connor and Auston and other peers tear up the playoffs while he sits at home reminiscing about stretch passes. His system is taking millions off of his next contract.

I don't know much about these sources. Is this credible? Aside from inferring things from "I'm not the coach", do sabres fans think this is accurate?

I'd cave if I were the Sabres and hire the coach he wants even if it's not the best thing to do because you can't afford to lose Eichel.

Murray and Byslma's days are numbered. Better to keep the player happy. T

Doesn't seem like Bylsma has done anything to give him any shot to win this battle. Later Dan.

Don't get how an org would let this info get out though. Doesn't make Eichel look good, although I'm sure these kinds of conversations are had a lot on unsuccessful teams at the end of the year.

Happy to see Bylsma gone. Please get a coach who plays some entertaining hockey now.

No. Hire the best coach available. Winning keeps players like Eichel happy.

Not really. I doubt he's going rogue and doing this on his own. I'm sure there are players that don't want to be named that know Eichel has the most pull in the organization.

Coaching isn't the only problem with the Sabres though, they have two good defenseman and one of them is mainly good on the PP and has very bad possession numbers. You can't win with that roster even if you have Babcock.

Something tells me, this won't just end peacefully and happily with Bylsma getting fired. This is just begging for plot twists and drama..

it's what he did, not how he did it. He certainly looks to be a diva if he's going to refuse to play for a certain coach.

How exactly ? have you not been keeping up with the disco dan situation ? he's sucks all of HF/buffalo knows he sucks and because we have a player willing to speak up for the majority of his team that means it's a bad thing ? nah that's captain material right there, matthews would never have the courage to do what eichel is doing rn

I don't care if he said it in a confessional, or if he said it in a press conference.

There's nothing "bad" about expressing to management the terms under which you will continue to work for them. He has the right to sign the contract or not sign the contract for any reason he wants. If he doesn't want to re-sign because he thinks having a team name of the Sabres but having pictures of Buffalo on the uniforms is stupid, that's his right and there's nothing "good" or "bad" about those reasons.

yeah something tells me that the guy who cries about Bylsma in every other post is going to take this stance, but the fact is it's pretty childish and shows how loyal he is to your franchise (not very, unless he gets everything he wants)

*sigh* People are going to take this as Eichel being a coach killer isn't it.

Good of him to step up, BYElsma is pretty awful and everyone but Tim Murray knows it.

Normally this type of stuff annoys me but the fact for Eichel it seems to come from an almost insane level of competitiveness kind of makes it ok. I can respect that drive.
