15g 58a for 73 points in 74 games. Add on the +7.

With a guy like Perry "slumping" it's pretty impressive

And with not playing with Rakell at the beginning of the season.

Only thing I can still say is wish he would shoot more. He's got a deadly shot. He can still make a few bad no-look passes and is bad in the 3 on 3 OT but he had a pretty good year otherwise and is in playoff mode right now. Big number 1 center that lots of teams would love to have.

I noticed, had him in fantasy.

58a with no Perry on his line is pretty damn impressive.

I think he was even more impressive than those numbers really say, at least in the second half of the season. When you separate the numbers from the about the All-Star break on(give or take), he was playing at an elite level.

He certainly wasn't consistently elite over the entire season, and the numbers accurately reflect that(I don't think he was bad, but he wasn't great by his standards), but he was absolutely dominant in the second half.

He had like 2 goals at Christmas time. His second half of the season was great, but let's not forget how bad he was earlier in the year.

*four goals

He's a play-making center. Judging him by his goals is really not representative of his play.

He had a great season.

I think he and the Ducks have reached the point Thornton and the Sharks have been at for awhile. People don't really pay attention til the playoffs start.

Thornton was a monster for so long, by 2010 people had already stopped talking about it... They were waiting to see him in the playoffs. He was incredible again...pretty much every year since. But not an eyelash batted. Show me in the playoffs.

Same for Getzlaf and the Ducks I think.

Wait, wait, wait.... Are you suggesting that raw box score production is not the best indicator of player performance?

No he's indicating that only judging by goals is stupid

He had a GF% of 42.5% and Rel.GF% of -7.5, compared to an xGF% of 53.42 and Rel.xGF of +2.55, from season-opening through to 12/30.

Anybody with two neurons to rub together could see the points were coming, whether the goals came off his stick or off his linemates.

Getzlaf's been ridiculous. He's been so good for us in the second half, not just offensively, but defensively as well.

I wish he'd shoot more, but I'm cherry-picking. He's been great, especially with Kesler starting to tail off a tad from his hot start.

Eye-test vs eye-test arguments are pointless.

For every person who swore up and down based on the eye-test that Getzlaf was playing well but not getting the rewards yet, there was another who said he was two slow, overpassing, not enough urgency, yada yada yada. And all the support they could come up with on either side is 'nu-uh, MY eyes are right'.

There's nothing wrong with using the eye-test. You should watch the games. But there's nothing wrong with verifying what you're perceiving is in line with simple, counted events on the ice. Everybody's eye test lies once in awhile. Some eyetests lie CONSTANTLY.

I know. I've seen the posts on these forums.

I agree and I don't care what 95% of people see, because its inaccurate. Getzlaf is good and always has been.

Had him in fantasy, and he's been one of my favorite players for years. He just chugs along at this point. Consistently a top 10 center in the league and occasionally in the top 5. Hell of a player. It will be interesting to see if he and Perry go down as the greatest Duck's of all-time. Selanne is iconic, but bounced around between 2 stints.

As a Hitmen season ticket holder back in the day, I said this a thousand times in his draft year, with the additional "... and that's why he'll never be an impact player in the NHL!" Ooooops.

He played very well this season overall but absolutely tore it up during that 20 games or so.
